Three great shows in Sevenoaks Summer Festival coming shortly:
Folk, Bluegrass and World Music events:
BLACK UMFOLOSI
Zimbabwe's Black Umfolosi combine the deep, rich harmonies of Zulu
township songs with a dynamic display of traditional Southern African
dances.
On BBC TV's Later With Jules Holland, the producer called them 'the
hit of the show'. 'Extraordinarily exuberant dancers...stunning and
colourful' said The Scotsman newspaper. If you liked Ladysmith Black
Mambasa on Paul Simon's Graceland, you're sure to love Black
Umfolosi.
The Stag Theatre, London Road, Sevenoaks Tuesday 8 July at 8pm.
Tickets £12.50/£10.50/£6 from Stag box office 01732 450175
ELIZA CARTHY BAND
Eliza Carthy and her band are part of a new generation of performers
taking folk music forward into the 21st Century. At this year's BBC
Radio 2 Folk Awards, Eliza swept the board: Best Folk Singer, Best
Album and Best Traditional Track. The Band are John Boden, Ben
Nitsky and Jon Spiers.
