FRIDAY
11th MAY DAN MILNER & BONNIE MILNER (USA)
We are pleased to welcome our good
friends Dan & Bonnie for their first performance together at MTC. They
have a passion for singing and a very special and unusual repertoire.
Bonnie & Dan Milner sing traditional Irish, Irish-American and
maritime songs in unaccompanied harmony. Each is also a strong solo
vocalist. Dan Milner, geography professor and world traveller, grew
up in a singing Irish family in Birmingham England,
Ballybunion Ireland and Brooklyn. His CD, Irish
Pirate Ballads, received 2 Indie Award nominations in 2011.
Bonnie's interest in sea songs was sparked by hearing
shanties sung at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut and by her friendship with
the last working shantyman, Stan Hugill. She is a member of the
renowned all-woman quartet, The Johnson Girls. https://stjohns.digication.com/danmilner/Music
With English music from The Pigeons (Sarah
Crofts, Paul Gross, Ken Lees )
