Hello Strangers!

Humungus apologies for the prolonged absence - the operation went really well and recovery from that has been swift - full recovery has taken longer than hoped for due to other frustrating stuff but I won't bore you with it, you've probably got enough frustrating stuff of your own :o)

Thanks for all the good wishes and cards, the result was fantastic - the lump was benign and the scar has almost gone already! Can't wait to show you all ! I've been feeling very guilty neglecting my folky duties and anxious - knowing how much work has been building up in my absence. Please forgive me if you're waiting for tickets or an email reply even! I'm working my way through quite a backlog - and those pesky Olympics aren't helping ... (more guilt :o( ) ..... but aren't we doing brilliantly - wey hey!

It wasn't all convalescence - to celebrate the end of a tricky time - we took ourselves off to Cambridge Folk Festival. It was a fantastic few days and has left us uplifted, revived and looking forward to getting back into arranging some more great music for us all to enjoy. Can't wait in fact.
More about that later, but in the meantime - the box office (ie me!) is now up and functioning again.

There is one additional early concert to tell you about. I'm very pleased to announce that we will be hosting a special album launch concert for popular and talented local luthier and upuntilnow (best kept secret) performer - Alister Atkin - whose brilliant debut album 'In Time' is released in September.

This is a little bit about it from Alister's website....

"Over the past couple of years I have been writing and recording a collection of songs. I have had the great pleasure of working with some good friends who are amazing musicians. Geoffrey Richardson (Caravan, Paul Brady, Penguin Cafe Orchestra), Kathryn Williams, Lee Russell (Paul Carrick, Ezio), Chris Difford (Squeeze) and 2012 BBC Radio Two folk award winners Tim Edey and Brendan Power.
On the 3rd of September my debut album "In Time..." will be released worldwide. If you are interested take a listen at www.alisteratkin.com. The CD is available on pre-order and instant download from the website."
The concert will be held at the Chapel, Christ Church University on 15th September - with support from the beautiful Lucy Kitt, who we saw do an entrancing set at Cambridge and who supported Cara Dillon for us so brilliantly a few years ago. It will be a superb evening celebrating the best of local talent, with special guest appearances from Geoffrey Richardson and maybe some of Alister's other esteemed contributors......
Tickets just £10 in advance - available now from me and booking via wegottickets as usual.

Full details of this including video clips of Alister and Lucy and most of the other Autumn concerts are all up on the website, lets get back into the swing and make this autumn season one of the best....

Thanks for your patience...

Look forward to seeing you soon - maybe at Cropredy or Broadstairs - come and say Hi !
