Hello All,
Thanks to all who came and made the June gig, with The
Producers, such a success - what a class act! Here is John
Cordingley's report:
"What
a great night at the Roffen again, it was good to see the Producers back again
after 12 years - voted four time best blues band. Harry has not lost that
wonderful touch, producing some excellent tone and bluesy riffs and solos on
his Aria Pro guitar. It was a pleasure to watch and listen to. He also
did some nice slide work on his Danelectro and his voice was compared by some
of the audience as very like Mr. Clapton as was some of his solo work. He
talked to the audience between numbers and gave us all a good laugh with some
of his stories, particularly about his French trip without his passport. The
band were on top form with many songs from their new album “London Blues” and
also Rock me Baby and a Reggae type number which we all enjoyed. The bass man
Dave, on his Fender Jazz, was there all the time with those nice bluesy
uncomplicated riffs (which I particularly like). Pete on drums kept the
beat going in fine fashion, and Ray on the keyboards was given the opportunity
to shine with some very nice solos. As a bonus, the band were joined by
guitarist Jim Greenwood who played some nice solo work on three of the numbers.
For those that could not make it you missed a very good evening. Please keep
coming along to keep the club alive it’s very good value at £10. John"
Thanks John! Thanks also to Terry and Sandra for their great
work on the night, as per usual.
So, for this month, something a bit different again in the
form of the Jay Tamkin band. Jay is one of the "young
guns" of the blues scene and is a rising star that we are catching on the
way up. The list of artists he has already been chosen to play with and
support is quite amazing for one so young and a real credit to his obvious
talent. Jay cites his influences as SRV, Walter Trout, Albert King and
Freddie King. Regardless, we are in for some mouth-watering guitar work and
great original music among his set. Check him out on google and at his
website www.jaytamkinband.com
That's The Jay Tamkin Band on Tuesday
31st July. Tickets £10. Bookings to me at the return email. Doors
7.30pm, band on stage 8.45pm. Good food, reasonably priced, available to
eat at your table. Further information, location map etc. available at www.bottleneckblues.com. May I
remind people that parking for our gigs is not available in the venue car park
(there is plenty of it immediately outside the venue).
I look forward to seeing you there!
Many thanks.
