Hello Everyone,
Thanks to the great crowd that turned up to see 24
Pesos last week. Here is MC John Cordingley's report:
"What a shock and a delight to see and hear 24 Pesos, I
had a quick look at them on YouTube prior to the evening but they were still a
big surprise to me and many others who attended, this band are going far and we
wish them all the luck with their British Blues nominations. They played a very
nice selection of blues, many from their new album but also some traditional
songs like the Muddy Waters ?Can?t be Satisfied? but I particularly liked one
of their numbers ?When the Ship Goes Down?. Julian on lead was excellent with
his Fender Strat and his resonator work with the slide was something to be
envied, he also played a small travel guitar and did some tricks with his Strat
turning the guitar through 360 degrees and then playing behind his neck just
like Jimi. There were some nice harmonies from the band which came off well,
and for those who like a sing along there was some audience participation as
well. Moz on the keyboard was really enjoying himself on his Roland which
had a nice Leslie, giving that particular Hammond sound that is associated with
the blues. Silas on his Fender bass was very good and Mike on the drums I
thought was excellent, keeping the beat going with no problem. There was a very
good turn out for the evening for which we were grateful, all that I spoke to
said that they thoroughly enjoyed it and I would certainly like to see them
back next year, well done Richard for booking them. John."
Thanks John, an amazing band! Thanks also to Terry and
Sandra for setting up on what was a very busy night.
This month we have The Producers, who are
appearing on Tuesday June 26th. The pedigree of this band is
quite something and a Google search will bring up a wealth of material on them,
or check them out on their website www.producersbluesband.co.uk.
The front man, Harry Skinner, has played the club before with a
band before under his own name, to much acclaim. Needless to say, we are
in for yet another night of top-class music at a very reasonable price, so
please pull out all the stops to come and support.
Bookings to me at the return email address (please do not
ring the venue), tickets ?10, doors at 7.30 pm, band on stage 8.45pm. Further
information, location map, future gigs etc. available on our website www.bottleneckblues.com.
I look forward to seeing you there.
Many thanks.
