THIS WEEKS NEWS

Keith and Cathy's Picking Weekend (this weekend) is going ahead despite the
recent weather - the details are on the website but I repeat them below
*LATE NEWS FOR THE PICKING WEEKEND: updated Tuesday 19th June*
*To let you know the weekend is definitely happening, in spite of the weather.
Farmer Nick is not sure yet whether to allow vehicles onto the camping field.
We will make a decision about this on Friday afternoon. If you arrive before
this, please don't drive onto the field. If it seems too wet, there is plenty
of hard standing around the farm for camper vans and cars. Those with tents
will be able to walk on to the field to camp.*
*Nick also wants me to remind you all that breakfasts will again be available
on Saturday and Sunday morning, al fresco and cooked on the barbeque. So you
don't have to bring loads of food.*
*Last year I supplied a barrel of local beer - this year it will be cider from
our new home village of Littleton-upon-Severn.*
*Proceeds from the breakfasts and the cider will be going to Nick's charity -
FarmLink*
*Last thing: to remind you that this is a working farm, so please don't bring
your dog.*

For some years, Neil White (ex-Old Time News editor) has been hosting mainly
Old Time concerts at his local, the Crabshell in Kingsbridge, South Devon.
Now, thanks to the generosity of his previous guests, he has been able to
release a cd sampler.
So, titled simply 'The Crabshell COncerts 2005-2012' it features an hour of
music from the tradition, donated by each of the acts that have featured in
the 29 concert series. They are some of the most admired and respected players
from both sides of the Atlantic who, amongst them, have sold out the Albert
Hall; achieved championship honours; broken audience records; starred on TV,
film and radio and won accolades galore. Superb performers at the top of their
powers, everyone one has earned worldwide acclaim.
The cd is on sale from the Crabshell Inn or from Crabshell Records, 2 Clipper
Quay, Embankment Road, Kingsbridge, TQ7 1SJ at £10 in person or £12 with p&p
(£14.50 abroad), sterling cheques payable to Crabshell Records.
Any profits from the sales are entirely dedicated to promoting live,
professional music of the tradition in and around Kingsbridge.
Featuring tracks from the Orpheus Supertones; Jeff Davis with Brian Peters;
Bayou Seco; Ira Bernstein and Riley Baugus; The Carrivick Sisters; Jeff
Warner; Beverly Smith and Carl Jones; the Albemarle Ramblers; Simon Mayor and
Hilary James; Debby McClatchy; Phil Beer; Julie Felix; Pete Coe; Kate
Lissauer; Sid Kipper; Sara Grey; Tom, Brad and Alice

To All Killington Campers
Saturday 14th July is Woody Guthrie's 100th birthday. Also, as many of you
know, our venerable host Joe Fearnhead, is a big Woody fan. To celebrate, we
thought that it would be nice to have a Woody Guthrie singaround early on
Saturday evening around our traditional Killington barbecue time. Please bring
along your favorite Woody song for a good old hootenannie.
It might be useful if you could send Hugh Connor your song name in advance, so
that he can make sure that we don't have 17 versions of "This Land is Your
Land" !

Picking Weekend - 14 to 16 September 2012
The Hanbury Old Time Music & Dance weekend will be at the Cock Inn, a small
country pub with a field. It is in a village called Hanbury near Burton on
Trent which is in lovely countryside and fairly close to Derbyshire and the
Peak District.
The pub food is excellent and the landlord is prepared to do breakfast, lunch,
dinner and barbecues if we wish.
We have the use of a large function room in which to play and the pub has a
beer garden with children?s area and French boules and outdoor bowling.
