Hello Everyone
Thanks to all who attended at the Jerimiah Marques
and the Blue Aces show earlier this week.
Here is MC John Cordingley's report:
"Another
“cracking” night at the Roffen, it was good to see Jerimiah again who once
again gave a great performance with lots of energy and stage presence, he sang
many of the blues favourites such as Smokestack Lightning, Hoochie Coochie Man
and included a Calypso number and at the end, for the request by Alan Kyle a
Reggae song. He treated us to a couple of a cappella songs one being the old
Leadbelly number Rock Island Line which reminded me when I started to playing
guitar in 1957 so that brought back some memories, the evening went so well
that the last set overran by 20 minutes to the delight of everybody. The band,
the Blue Aces played extremely well being lead by Louis on his nice Guild
guitar who played some very tasty solos, all finger style and Laurence played
some great harp with many variations. Orlando played the stand up bass in fine
blues style as did Peter on the drums. During the evening the band were joined
by Chris on guitar from Wes Weston’s Bluesonics for two numbers which was a
treat seeing both guitars sharing the solos. For the future nights we have John
Idan ex. Yard Birds on 24thApril, then “24 Pesos” in May, and in June the
return of the Producers. Look forward to seeing you all again on 24th April
same time same place, thanking all that attended and for those who supported
the raffle, John."
Indeed John, a lovely show, thank you and thanks also to
Terry and Sandra.
On Tuesday April 24th, we have The John
Idan Group. John is an ex Yardbirds singer and guitarist and all
those who came to his performance at the Bottleneck last time will remember a
night of pure quality. Coupled with the introduction of new material
since then, the upcoming gig is a mouth watering prospect indeed and not to be
missed.
Tickets £10, bookings to the return email address. Further
information, location map etc. available at www.bottleneckblues.com
I look forward to seeing you on the night.
Many thanks.
