Hello Everyone

Thanks to all who attended Nicky Moore and band last week.  Here is MC John Cordingleys' report:

"Another good night was had at the Roffen, it was great to see Nicky again who has not lost that wonderful voice of his and we were introduced to his younger son “Junior” who opened the first set and warmed us up for the big man himself. The band did well with Tim Moore taking lead guitar on his Fender Strat, Junior Moore acoustic guitar and vocals, Grant was on bass and Eddie on drums. It was a great evening and was really supported by you all which was well appreciated, and thanks for supporting the raffle, also many thanks to Ted for the CD that he donated. I thoroughly enjoyed Nicky’s a cappella number “Doing the Devil’s work” which was a nice break in proceedings. Nicky had us singing along and clapping to Rock me Baby which made us all feel part of the evening and we also joined him in several other songs which we all enjoyed. Please keep coming along!"

This month on the 28th we have Tim Aves and Wolfpack.  I'm so glad that I took somewhat of a flyer when I booked the band over a year ago.  I knew the individual musicianship was there and I had seen the band, however, it was still a relatively fledgling outfit in comparison to most of the acts that appear at the Bottleneck.  Needless to say, the band gave us a great show then, however, in that interceding year they have gone from strength to strength, playing many major shows and most importantly have produced a CD that I personally think ranks up there with the best in blues.  The CD has had rave reviews worldwide and even a suggestion from the President of the American Blues Society that Wolfpack might be the ideal act to play a tribute to Howling Wolf in Chicago.  If you like Howling Wolfs' music and style you're going to love this band, even so they have their own identity and, as well as a great rhythm section, sport one of the finest young blues guitarists in the country, Joel Fisk, who also plays with major contemporary blues act Hokie Joint.

So, that's Tim Aves and Wolfpack on Tuesday 28th February.  Tickets £10, doors 7.30pm, band on stage 8.45pm. Good food, reasonably priced available at the venue.  Further information, location map and future gig list at www.bottleneckblues.com.
