Subject: 4th folk open - mic Thursday 30th June

Hi all, it's on again - the 4th folk singaround at the White Horse, Sandway (near Lenham) hosted by me and John (Border Crossing).

The first three sessions have been much enjoyed by all who came, as well as the locals and the bar staff, and we very much hope to see you here.
If you can't make this one, the next will be Thursday 28th July.
The venue is in the bar at The White Horse PH, Lenham Heath Road, Sandway ME17 2HY (one mile from Lenham), starting 8.30 p.m.
(note to all, due to a mess up my calendar, we may be starting very slightly after 8.30 this particular week) and the pub phone number is
01622 859511

The pub was taken over nine months ago by new landlord and -lady Gavin and Jenny, who are very folk-friendly (for example, they have the Seven Champs Molly rehearsing in the pub's back room every Thursday evening, some of whom we hope will be joining us on the night after their rehearsal finishes at 10 p.m.) and who have transformed the place back to a traditional English Country pub with good real ales and a lovely atmosphere.

Plenty of parking, or a gentle 15 minutes walk from Lenham train station (come out the station entry road, turn right, then first left (signposted Boughton Malherbe), pub is on the right at the end of this road).

We are running the evening as an 'open mic' (with a small pa), just to lift the volume above the background chat, and we are intending it to be mainly song-oriented rather than as a tunes session - although of course melodeon, fiddle, recorder, whistle players etc. are very welcome, as well as guitar/banjo/mandolin/bouzouki players.

(Instrumentalists note: there is already an excellent 'tunes' session held in the Red Lion pub in Lenham village square on the last Sunday of each month. Last time I went there were 7 accordions and 2 melodeons, a fiddle and a banjo).

Hope you can join us this Thursday evening - if you'd like more details phone me on 07855 428 428

Dean

P.S. A couple of you on this mailing list asked to be removed. If I have failed to do this, please accept my apologies, and email me again, and I shall try to get it right next time :-)
