2010 was the first time that we promoted a full programme of
events on Friday and as that proved to be popular we intend to build further on
that success this year with workshops, sing-a-rounds, concerts and of course

The festival is a great supporter of all things Kentish and a special event this year will be The Chaucer Show with Pete Castle and Geoff Chaucer Jnr (aka Pete Morton). The show is based on the Canterbury Tales and will be a mixture of songs, stories, music and poems and will include the stories from Miller’s Tale, the Wife of Bath’s Tale and the Pardoner’s Tale amongst others. Pete Castle is often described as the storyteller who sings half his stories and Pete Morton is best known as a singer-songwriter. www.petecastle.co.uk www.petemorton.com
Other festival guests already booked include Adrian O’, The
Askew Sisters, Band of Two (Sponsored by The Woolpack), English Rebellion with
caller Bo Foaks, John and Karen Sweeney’s Contra dance workshops, Kimbers Men,
Liam Robinson, Mainbrace, Mary Humphrey and
Other events will include hundreds of Morris and other folk dancers, the popular Music Fayre in the Junior School Hall, street stalls in the High Street and crafts and stalls in a marquee on the Recreation Ground. To avoid a reoccurrence of last year’s problems, caused by the heavy rain and winds, we plan to hire in one large marquee which will be professionally erected in plenty of time to house a wide variety of stalls on Saturday and Sunday.
