In our second festivals mailshot of the summer we pick out a selection of the best festivals coming up over the next few months. For those of you interested in seeing more you can view all the festivals and large outdoor events we have on sale here - which includes the likes of Field Day, Underage Festival, and countless other great events we didn't have room for here - and we'll be sending over another raft of recommendations in July...

Wychwood Music Festival 2011
featuring The Charlatans, Cornershop, Roddy Woomble, The Waterboys and more

The fantastic Wychwood Festival is now only a matter of days away - so get your tickets soon and kickstart the festival season in style! A stellar line-up includes headline sets from The Charlatans, The Waterboys, and Ian Anderson playing Jethro Tull, as well as other top acts such as Roddy Woomble, The Bluetones, Cornershop, and Eddi Reader. Away from the music Wychwood also hosts great workshops, shows, demonstrations and activities for kids, adults and families - plus a special appearance from Justin Fletcher (aka Mr Tumble!). There's also the brilliant headphone disco, cinema screenings, a healing field, scultpure, and a great comedy line-up; including Robin Ince, Ray Peacock, and Iszi Lawrence.

Meadowlands

After the successful launch of the festival last May, Meadowlands Festival is back this weekend for another three day bank holiday extravaganza, held in the sumptuous grounds of Glynde Place in Sussex, just a few miles from both Brighton and Lewes. The festival is expanding this year, playing host to four stages, featuring over sixty bands, a comedy and spoken word marquee, a campsite discotheque, art and light installations and more. All in all, this looks like being one of the events of the summer...

The 1-2-3-4 Shoreditch 2011

The 1-2-3-4 Shoreditch is a one day festival, taking place in Shoreditch Park, that highlights the audacity and bluster of rock 'n' roll in its rawest form and presents the best new underground music alongside inspirational international artists, set deep in the heart of London's most creative and cultural quarter. This year's line-up already includes Black Lips, Lydia Lunch, The King Blues, Damo Suzuki, Autokratz, The Chapman Family, The Fair Ohs and more, and with plenty still to be announced this looks like being a bit special.

Headstock
featuring Echo and the Bunnymen, Turin Brakes, Craig Charles, Nick Harper, Tunny and more
Newstead Country Park, Nottinghamshire on 10th and 11th September tickets/info

Headstock returns - having received rave reviews for last year's event - with a killer line-up, including indie legends Echo and the Bunnymen, as well as Tunng, CW Stoneking, Turin Brakes, Craig Charles and more. This year they'll have over 60 acts based over 4 stages and dance arenas plus a dedicated children's area - Kidstock - plus arts workshops, local traders, charities and food stalls and a lounge bar serving real ale and cider, amongst other activities. After a brilliant inaugural event in 2010 it's needless to say we're expecting big things for 2011!

La Route Du Rock
French festival in beautiful beach setting, featuring Battles. Fleet Foxes, Mogwai, and more
St Malo, Brittany, France on 12th to 14th August tickets/info

Held in and around the beautiful walled seaside city of St. Malo, on Brittany's Emerald Coast, La Route Du Rock has seen headline sets from Sonic Youth, Portishead, PJ Harvey, The Cure, Sigur Ros, Foals, Breeders, Mogwai, The National, TV On The Radio, My Bloody Valentine, Deerhunter, Grizzly Bear and Tindersticks in recent years. Confirmed for 2011 so far are Battles, Fleet Foxes, Mogwai, Blonde Redhead, Here We Go Magic and with a beach stage in the daytime and a spectacular castle stage by night, La Route Du Rock mixes amazing line-ups with a truly stunning setting.

IVYLIVE

Filham Park will play host to the strongest and most diverse IVYLIVE line-up to date; boasting a powerful and eclectic mix of international music and the brightest local talent. Furthermore, IVYLIVE promises to be packed with all-ages attractions, entertainment and great food - all in the lazy, late-summer sunshine!

Soundwave Festival Croatia
featuring Roots Manuva, Bonobo, Submotion Orchestra, Zero 7 (DJs) and more

One of the best festivals of the last couple of summers returns bigger and better in 2011; the Guardian describing it as having 'all the quirks of a Bestival but in a far more beautiful, and sunny setting' - in Croatia, nonetheless. Confirmed acts so far include Roots Manuva, Little Comets, Zero 7 (DJ set) and loads more. The festival's legendary boat parties have recently gone on sale and with limited tickets available we'd advise you buy sooner rather than later.

Sunrise

Featuring an inspiring mix of the very best in alternative culture, with an eclectic blend of dub, world, ska, electronica, dub-step, psytrance, breaks, reggae, folk, Balkan beats and all manner of stompingly good tunes from rising stars, established favourites and surprise collaborations. As one of the UK's leading green music and arts festivals, everything at Sunrise is stamped with a green seal of approval.

Croissant Neuf Summer Party
Britain's Greenest Festival - featuring Ed Sheeran

Croissant Neuf Summer Party won an award at the People and Environment Achievement award making it Britain's undisputed Greenest Festival. It also made an appearance in Virtual Festivals' 'Top Ten Boutique Festivals of 2008', and has gone from strength to strength since. A combination of the picturesque location, great activities for kids, top quality food and drink, endless opportunities for music, dancing and theatre has led Croissant Neuf to gain a reputation as one of the best family orientated festivals in the UK. Festinho 2011
An intimate, friendly festival in a magical setting with Brazilian sunny vibes

Festinho is a delicious cocktail of the best in eclectic music, sunny Brazilian vibes, a laid-back feel and shedloads of wonderful nonsense. All profits go to the ABC Trust, which helps Brazilian children and young people on the streets to transform their lives. The line-up for 2011 includes Emily Davies, Echaskech, Hot Feet, Will Jeffery, Manière des Bohémiens, Marthas And Arthurs, My Tiger, My Timing, Origamibiro, Skinny Lister, Shadow Orchestra, Sunday Driver, Treetop Flyers and Tyde.

The Tringe

The Get Stuffed Comedy Club are once again bringing great quality entertainment to Tring, a lovely little market town on the edge of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. This year the organisers are extending The Tringe to a three week festival, giving many more acts the chance to test their Edinburgh shows on the discerning Tringe audience. The line up is exciting, with many old friends returning and some great acts coming for the first time. It's only 35 minutes by train into London and only 20 minutes from the M25, so grab your tickets now!

Glynde Food & English Wine Festival

A celebration of the best food and English wine producers from Sussex and the surrounding counties. The festival is set in the beautiful grounds of Glynde Place, a 16th century country house in the heart of the South Downs, and offers the biggest English wine gathering in the UK. Sample some of the country's finest wines and enjoy all manner of food offerings from chocolate to chilli, cheese to chutneys, cakes to charcuterie and more. There will be workshops and cooking demos over the weekend - your chance to get up close to some of the country's top chefs and experts.

Arleyfest

Arleyfest is a small non-profit event with limited tickets and camping available in the picturesque setting of Arley Village, in the heart of the Wyre Forest. This year's event will be headlined by Seth Lakeman (Friday) and features the likes of Scott Matthews and Cantaloop (featuring Frank from Fun Lovin' Criminals) on the Saturday. The festival will be also be showcasing some of the best in local bands and artists from Worcestershire and surrounding areas.

Redfest
Staunchly independent festival featuring Ed Sheeran, Futures and We Are The Ocean

Redfest is a brilliant 2-day music festival featuring live performances across two stages, and top DJs playing into the night. Now in its fith year, Redfest has gained a reputation for championing new emerging bands, solo artists and DJs, and 2011 promises to be their biggest and best weekend yet - with a line-up that includes We Are The Ocean, Futures, Ed Sheeran, Modestep, Lower Than Atlantis, Qemists, Canterbury, Floors and Walls and more. Catch some of the best up and coming local and national acts before they go stellar.

Off the Cuff

Off The Cuff started in 2009 as a small idea to try and give something back to the West Midlands' music scene. This year the festival is set to be bigger and better - based in the Flapper's gig room for the last two years, the plan is to double the capacity by moving it upstairs. The 2011 line-up is shaping up to be a real treat; as well as the bands mentioned above, you'll also see: Shoes And Socks Off, Of Pandas and People, &U&I, Turbowolf, Shapes, OK Pilot, Flash Guns and much more.

Apple Cart Festival 2011
A new London festival featuring music, comedy, art, cabaret and magic - with Saint Etienne, Soul II Soul, James Yorkston, Gilles Peterson and more

The Apple Cart features everything from Mercury winning musicians, top comedians, Magic Circle members, and more. The music line-up so far features Saint Etienne, Soul II Soul, Badly Drawn Boy, Beta Band singer Steve Mason, Magic Numbers, James Yorkston, Chilly Gonzales and DJ sets from BBC Worldwide's Gilles Peterson and Dexy's main man Kevin Rowland. The comedy is headed up by Marcus Brigstocke and Jonathan Richardson. The Apple Cart aims to create a kaleidoscopic, colourful playground for adults and kids alike.

Wallingford Blues and Beer

A great independently run charity festival. All the money raised goes towards promoting live music in Wallingford and helping to promote youth development projects in the town and surrounding areas. As well as a great line-up, you'll also find a fantastic range of real ales, cider, lager, wine, soft drinks and a barbecue, which will be available throughout the festival.

Watchet LIVE
featuring Leon Jackson, The Lily Allen show, Dodgy, Dreadzone, The Wurzels and more

Returning for its fifth year as West Somerset's largest outdoor music event, Watchet LIVE is a family friendly festival with amazing views of the stunning West Somerset coastline and beyond. Complete with two stages (including the famous Croissant Neuf venue) and over 50 live acts, the festival brings a wide range of high calibre musical acts not normally found performing in the area.

Americana International
A celebration of American music, automobiles and culture

With over fifty top class artists from the USA, UK. Europe and New Zealand(!) performing a wide variety of Anglo-American music that is sure to suit the majority's taste in music genres, there are five stages of virtually non-stop live music plus dance floors indoors and outdoors to please the many dancers that support the festival. As always, a huge display of great american automobiles, motorcycles, trucks and RVs dating from the early 1900s to the present will be in attendance from all parts of the UK and the rest of Europe.

Ashbourne Festival

For over ten years the Ashbourne Festival has helped art and culture to flourish in this beautiful area of rural Derbyshire. The festival continues to grow in stature, now attracting internationally known performers to the region, whilst not forgetting its community origins. The 2011 programme features a mix of acts, including a Jazz and Blues show, a production of Twelfth Night, a Cello recital and much more.

Merry Tom Folk Festival
A brand new festival from the team behind the sadly defunct Spratton Folk Festival

Managed by key personnel from the hugely successful Spratton Folk Festival, the new Merry Tom Folk Festival already has a full line-up of 12 nationally and locally recognised bands including Celtic folk-rock specialists Mad Dog Mcrea and Northampton's favourite artists Little Johnny England and The Angels' Share. The event is a family oriented, summer festival featuring a wide range of live music supported by children's entertainment, workshops, food and craft stalls as well as onsite camping facilities.

Making up part of the Cowley Road Carnival celebrations and raising money to help ensure the future of the Carnival, Fiesta In The Park returns for its second year with sensational UK hip hop legend Roots Manuva headlining a line-up of nationally renowned world, reggae and carnival bands. Oxford's own Count Skylarkin will also be on the decks, and Fiesta in the Park will be a spectacular evening celebration of music, dance and summer fun for all the family that is unique for Oxford.
