Cecil Sharp Project

 

Steve's involved in this exciting project arranged by the EFDSS in conjunction with Shrewsbury Folk Festival. At the end of the project the artists involved perform three major concerts, two at EFDSS headquarters Cecil Sharp House in London this coming weekendSat/Sun 26th/27th and the other at Theatre Severn Shrewsbury on Thursday 24th March. The Cecil Sharp Project is well underway now, with the artists nearing the end of their week long residential in Shropshire, and getting ready for the shows in the next few days.

There’s lots of press for the Cecil Sharp Project this week – in brief, the details are:

We have a confirmed feature in The Guardian on Friday – Colin Irwin came to the house and spent 24 hours with the artists, getting a unique insight into the creative process.

All 8 of the artists will be at Broadcasting House on Friday for a live broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s arts show ‘In Tune’ from 6pm – 7pm. The artists will perform a number of songs and there will be interviews with the whole group.

Both Spiral Earth and Bright Young Folk were at the house yesterday at a press day interviewing artists on video – expect the footage on their respective sites soon.

this show is being filmed in HD for future broadcast.
