The Jam Tree

Jamin' in Chelsea

Story Image

Popular West Kensington gastropub, The Jam Tree is spreading its wings with a second branch opening this week on King's Road. The Jam Tree Chelsea will feature a copper topped bar, roaring fires, mismatched furniture including salvaged tables and chesterfield sofas and then antique mirrors and pop art adorn the walls. We're also looking forward to lazy summer afternoons in the garden.

The menu from executive chef, James Browne - formerly of The Settle Inn, The Well and Alchemy - will mirror that of The Jam Tree original with its diverse line-up from Malaysia, South Africa and India plus good old British pub grub. Come summer, a barbeque in the outdoor area will serve up a range of marinated meats, burgers and Asian and Caribbean street food.

Highlights from James' menu include starters of Curried Cornish Crab Samosas with Cucumber Raita and Battered Sticky Squid with Chilli, Garlic and Spring Onion Dipping Sauce and then mains will feature Jamaican Chicken Curry with Fried Plantain and Rice and Peas and Cod and Prawn Fishcakes with Spring Greens, Poached Egg and Parsley Sauce.

The stars of the Jam Tree's cocktail list are its Jam Cocktails which use artisan conserves in place of flavoured syrups. We love the Jam Mojito - strawberry, raspberry or blackcurrant jam blended with rum, ice and mint.

Owners Sam O'Riordan, Yann Roberts and Aslhey Letchford have an impressive entertainment and hospitality pedig ree between them being respectively MD of Serious Artist Management, launching Pacha and The White House and setting up Gigalum, Clapham Grand and Aquum (voted Best New Bar at last year's London Club Awards). We reckon you'll be in safe hands.
