Irish Gaelic Language Classes in CRAWLEY, WEST SUSSEX

A chance to learn Europe’s oldest language

From the 1st February 2011 the Celtic & Irish Cultural Society, as part of Crawley Fleadh 2011 and with help from the Irish Government’s Emigrant Support Programme will be offering Crawley the opportunity to learn Irish Gaelic.

This will give everyone an opportunity to get to know it a little more and learn some everyday phrases. The classes are aimed at beginners to the Irish language however experienced Gaelic speakers are encouraged to participate and give assistance.

Irish Language Classes will run throughout the year in Crawley so you will have the opportunity to learn even more.

Irish Gaelic is Ireland’s official language and became an official language of the European Union in 2007. Until the 1850s it was spoken by the vast majority of Ireland’s population, but today it is only spoken by a small collection of rural communities, known as the Gaeltacht, as a first language. However it is now taught extensively in Irish schools.

When:       Tuesday 1st February 2011, then fortnightly
Where: Friary Hall, Haslett Ave, Crawley RH10 1HS
Time: 8pm
