The Magpie's Nest, BBC folk club of 2010 is an acoustic folk
club pushing the musical boundaries within the promotion of folk and
traditional music. Formed in 2006, we provide a multitude of platforms for
emerging and established artists alike.
The club has become a vital focal point of this current revival working on both
a community level with regular intimate shows to programming large events on
festival stages and in many of the major London venues including the Southbank
Center's RFH, QEH, Kings Place and Cecil Sharp House. We also host showcase
nights highlighting the groundswell of new music within the folk genre and with
partners such as British Underground, The EFDSS and ACE have taken the music
further afield organising tours and hosting panels and concerts. 2010 took us
to Austin, Texas' SxSW and Womex in Copenhagen.
