event AD New Music Website Creates Unique Link Between Musicians And
Record Labels Audio Rokit.co.uk is a new service that shows
musicians which record labels, publishers and managers are currently looking
to sign new acts, as well as gig opportunities for bands. Recently launched,
the website makes the whole process of pitching music "more efficient and
targeted". This exciting new website comes with a built in song management
tool, allowing it's members to upload their music and profile to the Audio
Rokit server and pitch their music to pre-listed music opportunities with
ease. "I needed a better way to pitch my music. Like most musicians, I
love the creative process but not the boring ?networking' and pitching of my
music! The problem is the pitching is the vital part, without a professional
pitching strategy you are left with songs sitting on your hard drive and no
hope of being spotted, says Darren of Audio Rokit." Darren, the founder of
AudioRokit.co.uk interviewed record label A&R prior to designing the
internal management system to make sure it was exactly what they wanted also.
"This only works because we have listened to the industry. The whole website
was designed around the needs of the A&R first, we knew that if they
found value with our service, it would ultimately benefit musicians." Already endorsed by successful musicians and published
songwriters, the future looks bight for AudioRokit and its members. Record
label CEO Shabs commented, "This will help a lot of composers place their
songs, as well as giving artists a chance to go direct to the companies that
are actively searching for new talent." The Kent, Essex and Brighton heats of Metal 2 The Masses will
be held by Unified Sounds as usual in 2011. Each area can host between 27 and 36 Bands and ALL will be
cracking events! If you feel your band is the kind that would fit onto the bill
at Bloodstock please apply to take part in Metal 2 The Masses 2011. http://www.bandquestuk.com/apply-m2tm/ Please note that Bloodstock have included a host of different
genres over the years, the most obvious being heavy metal but the festival
has also covered hard rock, industrial and of course all the extreme metal
types. Over the past 3 years Unified Sounds have successfully helped
the likes of Snakebite, Silent Descent, Splintered Soul, Zocalo, Sanctorum,
Silas, O.M.T. Denounce, Cursed As Angels, The Inbreds, SevenYearsDead and
Echoes Fall play at Bloodstock. Snakebite went onto play Wacken in 2010. Will
you be next? Heats will be based on number of applications with 3 bands per
heat supplying 1 winner who will reach a second round and the winner of that
going to the finals to be held over the weekend on May 28/29/30. Bands who
impress with their efforts over the course of events may also be invited to
play the finals and will be given equal chance to impress the Bloodstock reps
who choose outright who takes the stage at Bloodstock 2011. A maximum of 10
bands will play the final from each region and a minimum of 1 band going to
Bloodstock to play the Unsigned - New Blood Stage with full weekend passes
for all members. Red Admiral Records - New Releases Hamlet Zhou & The Movement Band Album :Mavanga Hamlet Zhou (36) is a Zimbabwean musician and songwriter, though
originally born in the country he moved to the city for a better education. Hamlet started playing at the age of 9 with a home made
banjo/guitar. His reputation as a guitarist and vocalist has progressed for
the past 15 years gaining regular live and recording experience with
musicians from Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa and Mozambique. Performing at
festivals such as
Mapungubwe, Opikopi, The Standard jazz festival, Masa festival in the Ivory
Coast, Africa festival Germany and Roskild festival in Denmark. The Movement Band Hamlet Zhou - lead vocals and guitars,
composer Lazarus Wiliam - drums and backing vocals Alastus Mushoriwa - keyboards and bass guitar Since the band's formation and release their first album
?Chirimumoyo' in 2006 they have been ambassadors of Zimbabwean traditional
music to South African festivals. They play Mbira music, which is important
to keep the flame of Zimbabwean culture burning. It helps the young grasp
traditional values and maintains their identity, as the generations are
slowly moving from African and Zimbabwean culture towards western type of music. The Band use their music as media to maintain and safeguard the
threatened culture to teach all generations to lead lives free of killer
diseases such as HIV/AIDS. The song titled ?Mavanga' advises the young to
take heed of advice from the elderly in order to live safely and longer. Band members were groomed into refined artistes by Mbira music
masters such as Andy
Brown, Chioniso Maraire, Ephert Mujuru, Dawn Gumbo, German
based Stella
Chiweshe and Thomas
Maphumo now stationed in America. Local music events are held around town mainly at beer out-lets,
and are a real crowd puller. Visitors to Harare from all over the world enjoy
cultural music. They attend the shows creating a big market for traditional
music instruments such as Mbira and beating drums. They can learn how to play
the instruments and export them to their countries at the end of their visits
which also helps support the musicians and workers of the area. The Movement Band members want to sustain and take cultural
music to greater heights with a cultural music centre in Harare.
Manufacturing traditional musical instruments and teaching people how to play
the them. Approaching potential donors such as Non Governmental Organisations
(NGO's) for assistance has been a help but more is needed to secure the
future of Zimbabwe culture so the band welcome any opportunity to tour and
exhibit to the outside world through events and festivals, in Africa and
abroad.
