HOT GYPSY SWING with the International
HOT
CLUB DE FRANK
Take a
king-size bowl of swing. Add a firm shot of Romanian gypsy music and a large
spoonful of French Gyspy jazz. Dress it with a pinch of Odessaklezmer and a
blob of hot salsa. Stir well, and then you have HOT
CLUB DE FRANK; four swinging young guys playing and singing with guitar,
violin, clarinet and bass.
The band
played three times at the North Sea Jazz Festival and at the Montreux Jazz
Festival. Of course, the music of Django Reinhardt has remained one of the
musical starting points, but certainly not the only one. The repertoire has
grown so much wider. But it is more than that, it’s the way of playing that has
grown, the interaction between these master musicians. Come, listen and see it
for yourself.
