'Baum’s
playing is both imaginative and technically impressive, her front line and
rhythm section are no less impressive and the combination adds up to a genuine
collective strength and musical depth' (Jazzwise).
“…on a cold night in
January this reviewer decided to experience the Jamie Baum Septet at Joe’s Pub
in the east village. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Each
tune was gripping, and played to perfection by the ensemble. The best compliment
that can be given to such compositional creativity is that all concept of the
passage of time was lost… I had been transported…for what seemed like precious
few moments, but it was enough to leave me breathless and wanting more.” –
ALL ABOUT JAZZ, NYC
“ ****
(four stars) Exemplaire…Solace is a remarkable disc…” — JAZZMAN (France)
“A concert (at Braga
Jazz Festival) of extraordinary quality from the septet of Jamie Baum, with an
extraordinary sense of composition and fantastic technique of all the members of
the band.”
---CORREIO
DA MANHA (Lisbon)
“***(three stars)
Baum’s playing is both imaginative and technically impressive on her CD
Moving Forward, Standing Still, her front line and rhythm section are no
less impressive and the combination adds up to a genuine collective
strength and musical depth” ---JAZZWISE (UK)
"Jamie
Baum has developed a strong, personal sound with almost flawless
intonation...The leader is really rather unique; she is a fine composer, a
technically accomplished flautist and she has ideas and imagination in
abundance. Many players have some of these qualities but few possess them
all." ----JAZZ JOURNAL INTERNATIONAL,
(U.K.)
“The whole CD (Moving Forward,
Standing Still) is musically outstanding…she is definitely a
must-see” ---PAN FLUTE MAGAZINE (UK)
