The Mulkerrin Brothers are a trio of traditional Irish musicians and performers from Inis Mor on the Aran Islands. They were winners of the first series of The All Ireland Talent Show in 2009. The Mulkerrin Brothers took part in auditions for the RTÉ One television series The All Ireland Talent Show which were held at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), County Galway on 22 November 2008. They were chosen by mentor DaithÃÊ Ã“ Sé as one of his five acts to represent The West in the live finals on Sunday 15th March 2009. The Mulkerrins performed last on the night and defeated runner up Jack Lynch to win the series. They won a prize of €50,000 following a vote by the general public. They performed their winning piece on Seoige the following day. The three brothers, Padraig, Eamonn and Seán, performed a combination of traditional music and dance to claim the title. A major feature of their performance that won the hearts of the nation was Seán’s sean-nÏŒs dancing. It is something that you rarely see today in Ireland and especially by someone so young and in such a traditional style. Speaking after their win, Padraig Mulkerrin said: "Getting through to the final was amazing, we thought that was a big achievement, and even though we got through to the final we didn't think we had a hope, so it's massive shock... I am speechless." The Mulkerrin Brothers appeared on ‘Tubridy Tonight’ alongside their mentor Daithi Ợ Sé on Saturday 21st March. Ợ Sé said he was caught for words to express his delight at the win by the "strong family unit".
