NEWS FLASH FROM VIC SMITH,  THE ROYAL OAK, THURSDAY 25TH. FEBRUARY
'Tomorrow's (Thursday 25th February) appearance by Ken Hall & Peta Webb at the Royal Oak in Lewes has had to be postponed because of a family crisis and hospitalisation. Given the late nature of this, we will not be trying to book an alternative guest but will be having a Free Admission Open Night as an alternative. We will, of course, be offering Peta & Ken an alternative date when they can see their way clear to think about these things. Our thoughts are with Ken at this very difficult time.'

JOHN HARVEY TUNES SESSION, TUESDAY 2nd. March,  8.00 - 11.00 PM
John Harvey Tavern, Bear Yard, Lewes BN7 2AN (opposite Harveys Brewery in Cliffe High Street)
If you'd like to lead one of these sessions, which are always on the first Tuesday of the month, let me know. You can set your own guidelines if you want to, such as asking people to play the first time through a tune on their own or insisting on no more than two polka sets in succession.

TREVOR ARMS TUNES SESSION, SUNDAY 7th. March, 3.30 - 5.30 p.m.
The Trevor Arms, Glynde, East Sussex BN8 6SS (next to Glynde railway station)

CONCERTINAS ANONYMOUS,  TUESDAY 9th. March, 8.00 - 11.00 PM
ELEPHANT & CASTLE CLUB-ROOM, Elephant & Castle, White Hill, Lewes BN7 2DJ www.elephantandcastlelewes.co.uk/
This is Bryan Creer's regular free session for concertina players of all systems and abilities on the second Tuesday of the month. What happens depends largely on who turns up, but there's usually some part-playing at some stage and a few session tunes get severely beaten up. There are a number of three-part settings of tunes available in pdf, abc  and midi form on the Spare Parts website http://www.sparepartsband.co.uk/SPTunes.php; let us know if you'd like to have a bash at any of these.

LEWES FAVOURITES ENGLISH TUNES PRACTICE SESSION,  TUESDAY 23rd. March, 8.00 - 11.00 PM
ELEPHANT & CASTLE CLUB-ROOM, Elephant & Castle, White Hill, Lewes BN7 2DJ www.elephantandcastlelewes.co.uk/
This is the free practice on the fourth Tuesday of the month for anyone wanting to practice tunes popular in local English sessions on any instrument. Andy Warburton has compiled two unbound supplements, one of a further 33 trendy tunes and another with a small selection of Scan Tester’s material; both are available to people coming to the practice sessions for the not unreasonable sum of £30p, but limited to one copy per person. They can also be downloaded from the Lewes Saturday Folk Club website www.lewessaturdayfolkclub.org/.
People are also welcome to bring tunes they'd like us all to try.
