Subject: Happy New Year from Spboy

Hello - a very Happy New Year
and hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas....

Good to see that some of you are now booking online
for the Hailsham Pavilion shows
www.hailshampavilion.co.uk
(sorry can't for the moment for Lewes Town Hall shows)

...and speaking of Lewes Town Hall, this is the venue for the first
spyboy show of 2010 (Sat 30th January - John Williams and John Etheridge),
see www.spyboy.co.uk
.......and we are approaching sell-out!

There was a two-way price structure (£22.50 : £20.00)
and ALL of the more expensive seats (220) were sold before the New Year

There are only about 50 of the cheaper seats left and they can only be purchased
by phoning the Hailsham Pavilion - 01323 841414
(please do not call the Town Hall or try to book online)

The first Hailsham Pavilion show of 2010 is on Sunday 7th February
with Cara Dillon - this is also selling well with over 100 seats already booked
......details of this and all spyboy shows at www.spyboy.co.uk

The next date for your diary is Tuesday 12th January when booking opens for the last scheduled shows of the Spring season....

Chumbawamba & The Demon Barbers (Sat 1st May)
The Fureys and Davey Arthur (Sunday 16th May)
Juan Martin Flamenco Ensemble (Sat 22nd May)
Albert Lee & Hogan's Heroes (Sat 12th June)

May seems a long way off for booking tickets but already over 100 have been sold for the Eric Bibb concert
at Lewes Town Hall on Saturday 8th May!
(so better to be safe than sorry!)

Subject: Lewes Favourites tunes practice sessions 2010

Dear Everyone,

The practice sessions are still going strong. We're not confined to the tune book - people are welcome to bring tunes that have recently become popular, so there is always new material on hand.
The sessions are a regular opportunity to practice tunes popular in local English sessions, whatever instrument you play, to whatever standard, and whether or not you read music. It's a chance to identify some of those tunes you recognise when you hear them but can't quite remember, to put the names to familiar tunes, and to play them over until you are sure of them. You can record the sessions. Admission is free.
You can download 180 of the tunes plus 33 recent additions in Noteworthy Composer, ABC and midi form from the Lewes Saturday Folk Club website www.lewessaturdayfolkclub.org/: go to Links and then to Lewes Favourites. The 'Lewes Favourites' tune book compiled by Andy Warburton contains background information and pictures as well. It is available from the contacts below or through the website, price £10 plus £1 p&p, by cheque payable to ‘Lewes Arms Folk Club’ (that's right). A supplement of the additions is available at the sessions.
We meet in the Elephant & Castle club-room, White Hill, Lewes BN7 2DJ from 8.00 p.m. onwards on the fourth Tuesday of every month.
