29th January - Tim Ralphs tells “The Queen of Claywood Flats” at Three Heads in a Well Storytelling Circle
Tim Ralphs takes inspiration from his home city of Sheffield and asks “What fae creatures dwell amidst these scenes of urban regeneration?” Weaving together a medley of traditional tales, the result has a flavour of Neil Gaiman, and echo of Chaucer, and yet remains immediate, playful and above all unique. Tim has been a "Young Storyteller of the Year" Finalist and is now taking the country by storm with his dynamic storytelling! And he was born in Epsom!
There are also some open mike slots : max 10 mins- no reading aloud allowed! Sign up when you arrive – first come first served.

30th January -  Janet Dowling offers a workshop for “ The Nuts and Bolts of Storytelling for Adults”
Have you ever wanted to tell a story but worried that you won’t be able to remember it all? This workshop will give you the basic building blocks – the nuts and bolts- to understand how stories work. In this workshop you will learn the “naming of parts” to help you break down a story into its "bones", and then build the story back up to remember and retell it as an improvised story, rather than a recitation or a rambling monologue. You will learn how to use your voice and body to tell the story. And have fun too!  Suitable for beginners  and improvers.

Storytelling & Craft Workshop at Painshill Park
Imagine living in a land that is winter all year round - this is the wish of the Wicked Wizard of Winter! Our storyteller will take you on a magical journey where you can sing, dance and make as much noise as possible to help break the Wicked Wizard’s winter spell and bring back spring!
Come along dressed up as a fabulous fairy, a wiz of a wizard, a charming prince or beautiful princess, and have fun in our creative workshop making a magical wand, a royal crown or a fierce dragon mask to take home with you. This is an indoor activity and is suitable for children aged up to 10 years old. The event is included in the price of normal admission and no advance booking is required.
