3 REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL!

SEX & DRUGS & Rock & Roll - the unconventional biopic about Ian Dury - is now in UK cinemas! The Blockheads re-recorded many tracks for the film with Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings), who plays Ian Dury and Chaz jankel has composed some original music for the soundtrack too.
BBC 6 RADIO Documentary to air on 16th January 10pm - REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL: Ian Dury and The Blockheads
Andy Serkis tells the extraordinary story of Ian Dury and the Blockheads - how a disabled art teacher in his mid-thirties fused punk, funk and incredible lyrics to create some of the most important music of the 70s. Friends and colleagues including Chas Jankell, The Blockheads, Suggs, Phill Jupitus and Ian's son Baxter reflect on a career of "sex, drugs and rock and roll", from the revolutionary "New Boots and Panties" through to Ian's early death and the legacy of the Blockheads as the band continue to tour. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00q9j2r
Followed by
Ian Dury and The Blockheads in Concert
Recorded live at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1979.

Staring Down the Barrel - The Blockheads (EMI) The Blockheads have recreated the Ian Dury & The Blockheads sound - witty, full of fun and political sharpness - brillaint musicians that they are. The front CD inlay artwork has been illustrated by Sir Peter Blake who has been a friend to the band since their formation (he was Ian Dury's art tutor). "Dury would be proud." Mojo

THE HALF MOON, PUTNEY - One of Londons oldest and most famous live music venues - has been saved. It was finally due to close its doors on the 31st January to become a gastro-pub! But following "an extensive campaign and massive public uproar plus huge support from the press as well as the venues local MP, landlords Youngs reconsidered their plans and have now announced that they intend to keep the premises open as a live music venue." The Brewery has been in the news before with problems concerning the legendary Bull's Head, Barnes - however (bless'em) they do respond to public pressure and a good media campaign! We are thrilled that various NetRhythms favourites will be playing soon Sunday 14 February JEFF LANG - Stunning guitar player and poetic singer-songwriter Lang is as original as they come. His performances are loud, electrifying and not to be missed. Sunday 7 March ALBERT LEE & HOGAN'S HEROES - One of the finest guitarists in the world returns with his band of rock'n'roll and country greats. Sunday 21 March DUCKS DELUXE - the legendary pub-rockers of the early 1970s with their "bare bones Americana rock in it's most raw and violent form", reformed in 2007. There's music seven nights a week, including the excellent Monday nights' Halfmoon Unplugged. See the full list www.halfmoon.co.uk
