Hello Everyone,
Thank you to those that turned up
to the Lisa Mills gig on the 21st July. Although I couldn't be there I
know that you would have been treated to a performance of the very highest
quality and this is what Roy Middleton, who MC'd the evening, has to say about
it:
"Well all of you
who attended this fabulous gig know what I feel about Lisa but for those of you
who weren't there let me tell you what you missed. Simply the best gig since she
played the club last year. There is only one other person in the world that
can sing anything like Lisa and that is Etta James and she is unlikely to tour
the UK anymore due to her advancing years. Last Tuesday we were treated to the
very highest level of performance from both Lisa and her exceptional bass
playing partner Ian Jennings. From the very first song to the last encore we
were given 100% commitment from both of them with a range of traditional blues
and contemporary modern blues songs written by Lisa and others,
delivered in Lisa's own very special humorous way. If you get another
chance to see her on this tour take it, you won't regret it. If not you will
have to see if Richard can book her again next year."
Thank you
Roy.
Which brings us to the
traditional August break and thereafter two very exciting happenings
following.
Firstly on September 29th we have
international artist Geoff Achison, which will almost certainly be a sell-out,
so please book early to avoid disappointment. Following this on
October 27th we have local artist Kris Dollimore who is using this gig as his CD
launch. This will be a very special gig for Kris and I am very proud that
the Bottleneck Blues Club is hosting it. Kris, who played guitar in the
band Del Amitri and some other big name bands is fast rising up the ranks and,
as a solo British artist, in my mind, sits alongside the likes of Papa George
and Ian Siegal. We are still not sure whether he will be with band or
solo, however, whatever the line up I can guarantee a top level evening - I know
because I have seen Kris play live myself!
I will mail out again
specifically for each gig of course, so all the best for now and have a
great summer!
Richard
