ArtsFest 2009

Don't miss out - just turn up!
1.00pm onwards, Canterbury campus.

All staff and their friends and families are invited to this year’s ArtsFest on Saturday 13 June. From 1.00pm onwards the open-air stages and grounds will showcase all types of music and entertainment from University societies, schools and the local community – at the last count over 400 performers, and all for free!

BBQ, noodles, curries, candy-floss and popcorn will all be on offer at  reasonable prices, and ice-creams and face-painting will keep children happy - as will the green open spaces! A fully-staffed refreshments tent will also be available for beer and soft drinks.

At 5.45pm the University Concert and Big Bands will take to the centre stage to entertain the crowds with their familiar trademark numbers.

In the evening, as the sun goes down and sausages continue to sizzle, you can either dance the evening away, al fresco, to DJ Lefty, join in the ever-popular Prom Concert given by the University Music Society in Eliot College (ticketed) or see the percussion group ‘Noise Ensemble’ (ticketed) at the Gulbenkian Theatre.

At 10.15pm fireworks overlooking the floodlit cathedral will provide a spectacular finale, followed by more dancing 'til midnight.
