Cello Meeting Ireland
The Donegal Chamber Music Society is presenting the first Cello Meeting Ireland on 19–21 June. Based at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny, the weekend will feature masterclasses by the Romanian cellist Mihai Dancila as well as chamber music masterclasses. donegalchambermusic.blogspot.com

Música Viva Competition
The Portugal-based organisation Miso Music has announced details of the Tenth Música Viva Electro-acoustic Composition Competition. Works may use a maximum of eight channels and no live elements. The competition is open to composers aged thirty-five and under. Works between five and fifteen minutes in duration should be submitted by 30 June 2009. www.misomusic.com

Beyond the Hood
A new scheme by Voluntary Arts Ireland and Audiences NI will provide training and support to arts or crafts groups develop. Short, free training sessions will be provided as well as literature on building audiences and other issues. For a related discussion, read Toner Quinn's article, 'The Art of Money' in the latest issue of The Journal of Music in which he writes, 'with a mentoring system we would build up much tigher-knitted arts communities, with the new blood coming in able to build on what has been done before.' www.vaireland.org

All Tomorrow's Parties
The Irish premiere of All Tomorrow's Parties, a film documenting the music festival of the same name, will take place at the Irish Film Institute on 20 June at 9:00pm. Featured in the film is substantial Super 8, camcorder and mobile phone footage taken by audience members at All Tomorrow's Parties festivals, which Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore described as 'the ultimate mix-tape'. www.irishfilm.ie

Dublin Sound Lab
A call for works has been issued by Dublin Sound Lab, the ensemble formed last year by the harpsichordist/organist Michael Quinn and the composer Fergal Dowling. The ensemble invites works for any combination of harpsichord, computer and fixed media of any duration. Composers may be of any age or nationality. The deadline for submissions is 1 September 2009. www.dublinsoundlab.ie

Cló Iar-Chonnachta has issued its first two releases of 2009, Dervish flute-player Liam Kelly's debut solo album, and flute-player John Wynne's second solo album.
