Subject: LES DERNIERES TROUVERES LIVE AT ORANGE STREET MUSIC CLUB MONDAY MAY 4TH

And now for something completely different.....
Be taken back in time on Bank holiday Monday to Medieval times, where much singing, dancing, drinking and general merriment will occur...this will be a LOT of fun!!

TWILIGHT FOLK PRESENTS….
LES DERNIERS TROUVERES.

WITH SUPPORT FROM
PRINCES IN THE TOWER (CIRCULUS)

"Singing the songs of Bards, Troubadours, Trouvères, Minnesänger...echoing the words of medieval poets and philosophers, ever faithful to the virtuous and perfect love of the Fidèles d’Amour...Keeping alive the grand tradition...Sing to us as we sing to you ! May this enchant and delight you !

We sing songs of the middle age in contemporary French language with authentic medieval melodies or melodies composed in the medieval idiom in order to deliver the listener the richness, strength and a vivid simplicity of the time.Audiences will discover with joy medieval thought and imagery. We are inspired ourselves by the diversity, the immense richness bequeathed to us by medieval society.... A heritage that was drawn in ink on parchment, carved in stone, sculpted in the wood, smelted in glass and woven in linen. We follow in the footsteps of the troubadours, Fidèles d’Amour, Ghazals singer, we sing the fin’Amor, the « perfect love », the « love from afar », pilgrimages, mystical intoxication and the wine, the tavern and the harmony around the table, the « Vouivre » (name of our dragon) and our rugged country, rumours, the Holy Grail quest and Eldorado quest, and Nature's revival in spring, the legend of Merlin and of the forest of Broceliande, the nostalgia for the lost Paradise, the childlike state of wonder, the ladies of olden times, witches, oriental evocations, a tribute to those persecuted by the inquisition, the mirrored world...Our repertoire refers to troubadours, trouveres, clerc Goliard, beguine, soufi, religious masters, … historical events, fables, and legends from the oral tradition. Those important themes, precious for the medieval society, are realised both as an echo to the time that inspired them and with relevance to our contemporary time. The majority of our songs are written by two lyricists, Florian Lacour and Roland Deniaud. We also interpret many songs of Europe in their original language"
