If you can't make it for the whole
Festival, Day Season tickets are a
great way to enjoy the full Festival atmosphere for just
one day (we will miss you on the other days of
course!).
And if even one whole day is not
possible then come along to one of our Festival
Dance House Specials? These big nights out
feature major headline artists, a great warm up and a
late night Dance Party all under one great big canvas.
It's the place to party.
Taffy Thomas is perhaps the best
loved and most celebrated story teller on the scene and
he will be back at Towersey presenting his "Tale- Coat".
The Tale
Coat idea was conceived and first tried out at Towersey
Festival back in the 80's. Telling stories whilst
wearing a long white lab coat on which people painted
images from the stories. The idea was developed from
there and the Tale Coat was born as a unique piece of
textile art.
Blue-skied days and
stunning starlit nights! Something very special happens at Towersey. An
amazingly laid back and yet exciting place to be for
four days and five nights of Festival
magic!
Even more great
artists
Even more great names have just
been added to the already bulging guest list. The
Festival Dance House welcomes BBC Radio 2 Folk
Award Winner Jim Moray about whom The
Daily Telegraph said “…the greatest leap forward in folk
for 30 years”
And we have more Folk Award
winners and "One of the best Live bands I've ever
seen" Mike harding, BBC Radio 2 with The Demon Barbers who join us
to play the Concert Stage.
Megan and Joe Henwood
play simply great music. Megan's songwriting is far
beyond her years as she weaves stunning melody and
witty, moving, thought provoking lyrics. Add Joe's
beautifully crafted Saxophone riffs and interjections
and you hear something quite magical.
When Denis Manners (one of the
Festival founders), passed away earlier this year we
knew this year's Festival would be a special one. At the
same time we were planning to put a new quiet space into
the Festival. We want the "The Den" to be just the kind
of space Denis (or Den to some), would have loved. A
place to relax and be with friends, a space for
reflection and calm where the excitement and energy of
the Festival can carry on around you. An oasis where you
can get a great cuppa, read the paper, put a message on
the Message Tree and get away from it all.
And as well
as all that we want you to bring a great book that you
no longer want and drop them into our Share Library! You
bring an old book and swap it for someone else's old
read.
Festival Patron Sings at
Towersey Festival Founders Memorial!
Sheila and Denis Mannerswere
founders of Towersey Festival and lifelong supporters of
the Folk and Peace movements. They touched thousands of
lives and were part of the Festival every year. They
both passed away in the last year and this Fundraising Memorial Concert
is a celebration of their lives.
It promises
to be special night with Festival Patron and lifelong friend Roy
Baileyheading the bill, with another great
friend from the early Towersey days John Kirkpatrick. Also on the
bill is a young Singer Songwriter who Denis greatly
admired for his conviction and humour, Gavin Osborn. Add to this
more guest singers, an interval Morris display and a
host of memorabilia and it should be a great
celebration.
