Subject: Megson - Jenna latest and Martyn Joseph special guest!
Hiya
Now I know Spring is here, my daughter who is off school with a nasty cold just came running in to tell me the first lambs are out in our field. They are so tiny, I'm just thankful they weren't out there last night! And it's not actually 'our' field, we just pretend it is because it surrounds our garden. I hope there's no more wintry storms or I'll have to go and bring them all in and put them by the radiator. It's great to see the sun though, makes me look forward to warm summer days and fabulous festivals.... talking of which - ColvinQuarmby are booked to play Cropredy - Hooray! On the same day as Seth Lakeman and Richard Thompson - how fantastic is that!! Can't wait!!
Right - first of all I have to let you know there are just 19 tickets left for Megson and Jenna on Saturday night at St Gregory's in Canterbury which is fantastic, thanks to everyone thats booked tickets so far, it's going to be a brilliant evening. If you can't come yourselves but know of anybody that loves good music and live performance, please let them know about it, I would love these guys to have a full house for their visit to Canterbury. There's no excuse now, Strictly has finished and surely Ant and Dec can't be a better option!! Thanks so much to all those of you who printed off posters for me - its a great help.
Next month we have the amazing Martyn Joseph coming to play for us at the Whitstable Playhouse. The ticket price for this is as advertised on my website and myspace and all the posters and flyers - £15 and £14 concessions. It seems a few of the early bookers have been given a discount by the Playhouse, it obviously does pay to book early you lucky lot! The mistake has now been corrected however and Martyn will get paid what he's worth. You will also be getting an extra bonus performance at this concert. Martyn has invited, with my huge approval, young Canterbury singer songwriter Luke Jackson to perform a short guest spot during the evening. Luke many of you will have seen playing locally or at Broadstairs Folk Week last summer. He is an amazing talent, he started to play guitar at the age of 10 just 4 years ago and already has a wide repertoire of excellent songs and a powerful voice that is continuing to mature and develop. Tickets are selling fast though so book soon - the box office is open Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 12.00noon.Telephone 01227 272042 Martyn Joseph 25th April - Whitstable Playhouse.
Please put Saturday 16th May in your diaries, we have something very different and very special for you happening at the Cathedral ISC in association with Atkin Guitars. Can't tell you just yet, but very very soon hopefully.
Don't forget Dave Swarbrick tonight at Faversham Folk club and Steve Tilston tomorrow at Whitstable FolkClub. I would say see you there but I'm ill and can't go!!!!!!!!!!!!! Serves me right for being so smug at surviving the whole winter without even a sniffle. Cards, presents, flowers and chocolates to the address below please :o)
