Hello and welcome to the February update about what's happening at The Central Theatre, Chatham.

January saw the end of our record-breaking panto, starring King of the Jungle Joe Swash. It also saw the beginning of Screen Classics, a monthly journey through the vaults of timeless cinema. The opening film, It's a Wonderful Life was a great success, earning spontaneous applause as the final credits rolled.

 CENTRE STAGE THIS MONTH

The City of London Sinfonia returned on Sunday, 8 February with its classical blend of fine programming. Featuring the elegance of Mozart's Divertimento, a Latin tango by Piazzolla, the bohemian charm of Dvorak and Finzi's playful Clarinet Concerto. Sarah Williamson, former BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist (left), took the lead role.

From Thursday, 12 to Saturday, 14 February a dramatic season of plays kicks off with Chekhov's funny and touching masterpiece, The Cherry Orchard. The Thursday performance includes an after-show chance to meet the people behind the play.

The Cherry Orchard is part of our aCT now! season which also includes Oliver Twist  - 23-25 February, La Ronde - 24 February and Ayckbourn's Relatively Speaking - 30 March to 1 April. Book for at least three plays by 14 February and tickets will cost just £9. Normal price £16.

FORTHCOMING HIGHLIGHTS

Escape to the movies this February break...there's riotous entertainment for children from Monday, 16 February to Saturday, 21 February with Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. The month closes with a spectacular performance from Think Floyd, capturing live the sonic exploration and visual brilliance of the original four-piece.   The music continues on the main stage on Thursday, 5 March as The Illegal Eagles return to Chatham.

On Friday, 6 March we are proud to host, for the first time, Mock the Week regular and former Spitting Image writer Andy Parsons for a night of uplifting comedy.
