A one-off, never-to-be-repeated showcase of some of the UK's most talented and original guitarists.

Headlining is the ever-popular Gordon Giltrap, who has made 25 albums and several hits over his 30 year career. By the time he was 18 he had secured his first recording contract.  10 years, 6 albums and numerous concerts later, he became an ‘overnight success’ with the hit single ‘Heartsong’, the first of two chart singles and two chart albums. His music has been used by both commercial and BBC television. At one stage he had the theme music for both holiday programmes and ITV’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ are still using ‘The Carnival’. He wrote the theme tune for ‘World Bowls’ as well as coming second only to Eric Clapton in Guitar magazine’s 10th anniversary readers poll.

Gordon continues to innovate and develop, such as his Double Vision duo with the classical guitarist Ray Burley and his new project “The Dodo Dream” in which he uses electric guitars to build and expand a composition live on stage.

A wonderful guitarist, I just wish he would slow down so that I could copy (play) with him” Bert Jansch

People would tell me about (American guitarist) Sandy Bull and I'd say, I don't know about Sandy Bull; you want to start listening to some of these people over here; Bert Jansch, Davey Graham and Gordon Giltrap for heaven's sake.”  Jimmy Page

Alan Prosser‘s career has included a stint in Ashley Hutchings' Albion Band but he is best known as a founding member of The Oyster Ceilidh Band, later Oysterband. He has been the groups guitarist and vocalist for thirty-odd years and his trademark guitar is an essential part of their distinctive sound, whether playing finger-style acoustic guitar on unplugged outings or driving the band's electric line-up with power chords on the Strat. But beyond the trademark power chords and driving rhythms he is an accomplished acoustic artist with a reputation among fellow musicians as a perfectionist. Alan's solo performances give the audience an opportunity to enjoy his well crafted songs and fluent finger-style guitar playing as they were written - for guitar and voice.

This is a side of Prosser that has been kept very much under wrapsFolking.com

Jon Gomm is a singer, songwriter and guitarist with an incredible virtuoso style, in which one acoustic guitar is used to create drum sounds, bass-lines and sparkling melodies all at the same time. His original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead, Roni Size to Prince. He has worked with some of the most-respected names on the acoustic circuit such as Tommy Emmanuel, Nick Harper and Bob Brozman.

Sussex-based Duncan McKenzie is one of the finest and versatile acoustic guitarists playing on the UK live circuit today. He has performed on international radio and television and is fast becoming a popular attraction at festivals with recent appearances in Scotland at 'The Kirkmichael International Guitar Festival', Ullapool Guitar Festival and The Highland Guitar Festival, plus international appearances at The Lugano 'Blues To Bop Festival' (Switzerland) and the 'Arctic Blues Festival' (Norway). Duncan’s latest album, NEW LIFE, includes some of his finest works including blues, ragtime, Celtic instrumentals, Latin and ballads. Also featured on the album is virtuoso fiddle player Mike Piggot (ex Pentangle). Live, Duncan is a dynamic artist making full use of all available sound from both vocals and guitar. Hauntingly beautiful ballads are also a Duncan McKenzie trademark often giving us a feel of his ancestral Celtic roots.
