John’s incredible versatility as a player has been well known throughout the guitar world for years

but tonight he launches his new project inspired directly by the style he loves the most, the music of

Django Reinhardt and his contemporaries. With a set that includes both original compositions and

fascinating re-arrangements of popular standards John takes the Django style right up to date with

his seamless integration of modern influences, techniques and compositional devices, producing a

sound that is rooted in the traditions of the genre, but vital, forward thinking and highly original.

Tonight’s line-up features John’s old rhythm partner from John Jorgenson’s Quintet, the amazing

Andy Mackenzie, along with Jim Clark on second rhythm guitar, Paul Elliott on percussion and

Kevin Nolan rhythm guitar (The Robin Nolan Trio), Charlie Chadwick, bass, Rick Reed, percussion and Jason Anick violin.  Known as one of the pioneers of the American Gypsy Swing scene audiences are amazed by John's dazzling guitar work and mastery of the clarinet with great vocals to match.  An exciting total entertainer with polish and style, whether playing his own accessible compositions or classic standards. www.johnjorgenson.com. An incredibly  gifted performer, composer, arranger, storyteller and multi-instrumentalist, Nano has developed a unique and eclectic fusion of traditional Latin American and European folk music, along with modern rock and folk.

At just 23 years old, Nano's second album, Voy Y Vuelvo, recently won the award for best album in the Chilean Journalists' Choice Awards (APES). The Teddy Simmonds Jazz Band (TSJB) is delighted to be making its debut performance at Le QuecumBar home of Gypsy Swing.  Led by multi-instrumentalist Hugo ‘Teddy’ Simmonds on the clarinet, with Rohit Nijhawan and Ed Shearer playing lead guitar, Marius McGinnis on rhythm and Kevin Carney on double bass, TSJB is a hard swinging hot-club quintet that mixes American swing, Django classics and quirky originals. The five musicians that comprise TSJB were all drawn to Django’s unique style of Gypsy jazz from a variety of musical backgrounds including classical, modern jazz, blues, New Orleans, country and rock ‘n’ roll – but as QuecumBar regulars and Django aficionados will know, once you hear the opening strains of Minor Swing, not much else matters! John’s incredible versatility as a player has been well known throughout the guitar world for years but tonight he launches his new project inspired directly by the style he loves the most, the music of Django Reinhardt and his contemporaries. With a set that includes both original compositions and fascinating re-arrangements of popular standards John takes the Django style right up to date with his seamless integration of modern influences, techniques and compositional devices, producing a sound that is rooted in the traditions of the genre, but vital, forward thinking and highly original. Tonight’s line-up features John’s old rhythm partner from John Jorgenson’s Quintet, the amazing Andy Mackenzie, along with Jim Clark on second rhythm guitar, Paul Elliott on percussion and Alan Mian on upright bass. Téa Hodzic came to notoriety in the UK performing with her sister Mirella in Channel 4’s award winning series ‘Bloody Bosnia’, and later as a vocalist and recording artist with UK based multi national Balkan super group SZAPORA.

Her startling and evocative voice has enchanted audiences from Womad to the South Bank to Sarajevo. In this trio Téa explores the songs of her homeland, the former Yugoslavia, and its bordering countries. With virtuoso musicians Oliver Wilson-Dickson on violin and Luke Carver Goss on accordion, a few instrumental fireworks are inevitable!
