International Women in Music Day - posted 03.2.2009
dates: 28 March 2009
A day of celebration, International Women in Music Day is a time when all females involved and working in the music industry can come together and be counted for their years of hard work and determination. From receptionist to roadie, it is a day when all females can put aside their indifferences and join together regardless of genre, color, creed or religious belief and be recognised for their worth in the industry.
By supporting the campaign, you can help others less able than
yourself, to achieve their goals and open their opportunities for occupational
roles in the industry. By sending this message of hope, you can help pave the
way for the millions of females that will follow.
IWIM Day welcomes all
females with a love for music and their organisations to join in the festivities
of 2009 and keep Women In Music DAY alive, not just for us, but for generations
to come.

Shine Week - Celebrating the talent in everyone - posted 03.2.2009
deadline: 6 -10 July 2009
Last year around 2,500 schools across England took part in Shine Week and hosted events designed to celebrate the diverse talents of children and young people across the country. Teachers and young people worked together to deliver a wide range of creative learning activities, projects, assemblies and end-of-term events to showcase different kinds of talent in their school and also created a 'buzz' about talent in the wider community. National and local media supported the Shine campaign and many school events featured in print and broadcast coverage.
This year Shine Week is back and takes place from 6th-10th July 2009.
With your help, the Shine festival will be bigger and better than ever, so don't
miss out on the chance to play your part! Take a look at the Shine website to
find out how to get involved and register your school's details on the site to
get access to a wide range of learning resources and event ideas.
Every
participating school registered on the Shine website will get a free kit of
creative resources, access to free downloads and free web space to show off the
school's best work.

YouTube style website gives performers a platform - posted 03.2.2009
A team of talent producers at Graham Norton's production company, So
Television, have created an online talent search called Noostar.com. Noostar
provides a platform for performers (dancers, singers, actors...) to upload their
video clips and receive a high level of publicity.
Once you've uploaded
your clip, you can invite people to watch it and vote for you (winners are
announced weekly) or just enjoy watching others. Norton and his team describe
the site as 'like YouTube without the non performers'.
