Happy New Year from Towersey Village Festival

"It's the focus of our year - we've camped on Site 1 for 25 years"
"Great to be asked - we like it as it is"

You Speak and We Listen

Listening to you, the Festival goer has always been very important to us.  After all, you are the people that make the Festival what it is and without you there is no Towersey.  So when we considered making some changes to Site 1 camping, we wanted to know what you thought.

It was an overwhelming and very welcome debate that we don’t often get with our customers and it is something we want to encourage in the future.  You have also given us ideas and suggestions that we hadn’t even thought about.

As for the outcome of the debate?  Well, you clearly like it how it is and that is how it will stay.  We felt that maybe we needed to make some changes to accommodate some issues that had been raised but when it comes to camp sites, most of you are happy with the way they are and so they will stay just that way.  We will take on board some of the small changes you suggest for Sites 2 and 3, especially better provision for disabled people and those up want to stay up late.

One of the most compelling arguments we received and one that really grabbed us provides the best reasons to come to Festivals like Towersey.

"Our society is constantly divided by age, background and belief.  On the campsite at Towersey you pitch up next to your new neighbour and invariably make a new friend.  The old camp next to the young; music, food and stories are shared and for the brief Festival period we are thrown together into a happy and harmonious mix.  This mixed and new community is what makes the experience so different from any other holiday".

So there you have it.  Come and camp on whatever site you please (see "camping and accommodation" on the website), and be part the Towersey Village Festival community for 4 days and 5 nights of Festival magic.  Please do stay in touch with us, give us your thoughts and ideas and let us know what works and what doesn’t and continue to make it your Towersey Festival.

see what else is new for 2009...

Denis William Manners MBE
17 Jan 1920 - 2 Jan 2009

Denis was one of the founders of the Festival  and ran the event until the 11th Festival in 1975, but continued working at the event throughout his life.

The first festival in 1965 was a fundraiser for the provision of better toilets in the village hall.  At this inaugural event he presented singarounds in the pub and dancing in his garden.

Denis sadly passed away on 2 January.  He touched many people’s lives through his passion for Folk music, Morris Dancing and his life long commitment to world peace and a fair society for all and will continue to touch the lives of those that come to the Festival.

Tickets on sale very soon and earlier than ever

Tickets will go on sale earlier than ever before this year.  We hope to be ready in the next couple of weeks and will of course let you know the minute they are available.

Towersey is the perfect holiday for the current climate (economic rather than weather!).  An affordable family holiday that is not only cheaper than going abroad but is easy, accessible, educational and is very likely to put a smile on your face.  At Towersey you can be sitting with your feet up or dancing 'til you drop, you can be meeting old and new friends, preparing for 5 days of unique festival community, music and good company and all within minutes of arriving.

Don't be the one that misses Towersey - "It keeps you going all year"

keep an eye on the website for the latest news...

Don’t be the one that missed the 45th Towersey Village Festival, you’ll have nothing to talk about next Christmas.
