Plumpton Primary School
Cluster Dance Festival 09

Over the last three years Ditchling Morris - SEFAN member, have spent a
tremendous amount of time with Plumpton Primary School, and with the help of a
SEFAN Start-Up grant (seed-fund) established a school Morris club. This was
tremendously successful and with the help of Action in Rural Sussex the Morris
club performed at the Hastings Jack in the Green and at the Ditchling Morris
Anglo/Dutch weekend in 2007.
The staff at the school were so enthusiastic about our heritage that they
were keen to continue the experience and with some more help from Action In
Rural Sussex and TRADAMIS - also a SEFAN member, they purchased a Maypole and
ran a very small festival at the school last July.
They really wanted to expand this and with an Awards for All grant
obtained for them by SEFAN now plan to run a larger dance festival next
April.
SEFAN and Ditchling Morris attended Plumpton school cluster meeting in
Wivelsfield primary school as observers and the result of which was that the
original grant application for two schools has now been expanded to 4 schools
with the other schools seeking additional grant funding for any extra
input.
David Johns of Plumpton will be running the show and most of the
organising will be carried out by Plumpton.
SEFAN and Ditchling Morris plus TRADAMIS will continue to be involved
with all three providing tuition and guidance in the run up to the
festival.
So from small beginnings we now have a larger project that SEFAN is
involved in.

We think that this snowballing is great and hope that all SEFAN members
do also.

Regards,
John Bacon
