STAGE ANGELINA
- Singer-pianist hailing from Moscow but raised in
London is a self proclaimed proud 'refugee' in love with
Soul Music, inspired by her cultural roots and LDN Town
upbringing. Winning her first singing competition at
just 11, Angelina turned to songwriting as a way of
expressing her love, pain, loneliness, identity and
feelings. Coming in her own invented outfit reminiscent
of 70s black soul, gypsy diva and youth today - Angelina
started her own revolution for the 'unrecognised,
multicultural youth' of today. MySpace and YouTube
audiences growing, memorable live shows, captivating
vocals, own produced and written EP later, Angelina
caught attention of Askia Fountain, US based music
manager. After discovering her music online, he fled her
to Atlanta - home to many R&B stars such as TLC,
Ciara and Monica. Many comparisons flying with 'British
Alicia Keys and Amy Winehouse on the piano', Angelina
worked with producers including Chuck Harmony (Mary J
Blige) and HeavyWeights (Ne Yo). - LISA
THEUNISSEN - (pronounced 'Tennyson') is
a South African born singer-songwriter, and made the UK
her home ten years ago. Over this time Lisa has honed
her songwriting skills and developed her stagecraft;
performing at a number of well-known venues on the
London and South East England circuit, making a name for
herself and gaining the respect within the music
industry and from musicians and songwriters along the
way. - MARK
BUCK is now joined by top notch drummer
Justin Hildreth and bass supremo Derrick McIntyre. The
band played support to Robben Ford on their first outing
to rave reviews. Bernard Purdie veteran drummer for
Dizzie Gillespie, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone and Miles
Davis, burst into the dressing room to say how great he
thought the show was. Derrick can also be heard on the
Jamiroquai album Dynamite and tours with Roy Ayers and
Justin has toured with Joan Armatrading and many others.
Mark has played support for Bo Diddley at the Forum in
London, Eric Burdon and the Animals at the Jazz Cafe
London and KT Tunstall at the Garage, The Fabulous
Thunderbirds at the Mean Fiddler ("Mark you really
funk," they said). Also not forgetting John Hammond,
Jose Feliciano at the Forum London. Scotty Moore, Kelly
Jo
Phelps, Charlie Musselwhite. Most recently he has opened
for Los Lobos on 15th and 16th of August this year, and
Allen Toussaint, Ike Turner, and The Zombies, with Colin
Blundstone and Rod Argent. - SIMON HARRIS
- As a lyricist Simon has a unique gift for delivering
an uncompromising message through the medium of the pop
song, with "Going Round The World" he hints at the
environmental issues surrounding our dark love affair
with international air travel, yet he sets this message
over a beautifully layered Jazz / Bossanova backing
track. There are a host of notable collaborations here
which give this recording a true 'family vibe', among
them are Simon's father Michael Harris (Philharmonia
Orchestra) contributes clarinet, long time friend Pat
West (who taught Simon to play the guitar) who played
most of the guitar parts and all of the drums, Joe
Broughton (Albion Band) on the mandolin, Quentin Collins
(Roy Ayers) on trumpet and Laura Douglas (Black Voices)
on Rhodes piano. This is just a small selection from the
large army of friends and family who gave their time and
talent to this album. - TOM GAMBLE - the
2nd time round _at_ The Halo: the outstanding acoustic
fingerstyle/classical/jazz guitarist and student at
TWBS. Here a shortlist of his accomplishments:
- Guitarist in orchestra pit for "Super" at
The Compass Theatre, Ickenham - Played at "Tommy
Emmanuel Fest" three years in a row - Singer in
"Carmina Burana" performed at Eton College - Played
in Beijing at The International Teachers Conferance -
Member of The Windsor Classical Guitar Ensemble -
Winner of Berkshire Young Composer of the Year 2005 -
Performed at The Jazz Music for Youth festival in
Birmingham - Member of TWBS Orchestra, Jazz band and
Big band - Various solo performances (too many to
list)
