On Saturday 8th November Eliza Carthy will be appearing at Record Corner, Pound Lane, Godalming at 2.30pm as part of the shop's 50th birthday celebrations. If you've not visited the shop before do drop in on the last remaining independent record shop in Surrey - a treasure trove for lovers of music outside of the mainstream.
Later the same day, Saturday 8th November, at 8.00pm at the Maltings, Farnham GU9 7QR, Eliza will be taking the stage with her new band to showcase her "whizz band jamboree bag of an album" Dreams of Breathing Underwater. Eliza, who has been described by The Times as "the international star of English folk in the 21st century", will be adding vocals, fiddle and ukulele (!) to a line-up of accordion, cello, piano, double bass and percussion to perform material reviewed as "the work of an artist who refuses to stand still" (The Sun), "magnificent" (The Guardian) and "quite a party" (Mojo magazine).
Tickets are going well. They can be obtained from the Malting box office on 01252 745444; from WeGotTickets and online at the Electric Voices website (where the pick of the remaining tiered seats is to be had!).
