Trad/Folk meets Early at Brighton Early Music Festival 2008

BREMF 2008 is ready for lift-off with a great programme that celebrates traditional song and dance from the British Isles and Ireland and its interaction with what we now understand as “classical”. Starting with a free family folk afternoon in the gardens of Adelaide Crescent on Sunday 21st September and Irish evening in a nearby pub, this is followed in the next two months by a wide range of concerts, workshops and informal events. From country dances to courtly capers, from Celtic fiddling to violin virtuosi and lilting Gaelic ballads to theatrical songs, the cultural gap is far from wide. What’s more – it’s thoroughly enjoyable from whichever direction you approach it.

Booking is just starting so to apply for workshop booking forms, join the mailing list or request a full brochure listing all the events phone 01273 833746 or visit www.bremf.org.uk.  Now even keep up to date on Facebook.
