Subject: The RSPB Wildlife Explorers Roadshow presented by Ticklish Allsorts flies into Tenterden soon!

Tenterden Folk Festival 2008

Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th October

The RSPB Wildlife Explorers Roadshow presented by Ticklish Allsorts flies into Tenterden soon!

When writing about the workshop “Birds in Folk Song” that Derek Gifford will be presenting at Tenterden Folk Festival 2008 I asked “How many songs do you know that feature, or just mention, a bird in the lyrics?”  Gary Nunn, another of the festival guests responded by telling me about “Feeders & Breeders”, a show which Ticklish Allsorts present to the junior sections of the RSPB.  We have therefore added this show to the Festival programme.

The Royal Society for Protection of Birds has over one million members, including a very large junior membership of some 150,000 children, known as the “RSPB Wildlife Explorers”. This is the largest wildlife club of its kind in Europe, and is still growing! The RSPB organises Roadshows to visit all parts of the UK for the benefit of its junior members, and then invites them and their families to attend. The RSPB commissioned Ticklish Allsorts, one of the country’s top family professional entertainers, to devise a roadshow and “Feeders & Breeders” was the result.

Children and their grown ups, who like wildlife and fun, will love the Ticklish Allsorts “Feeders & Breeders” show about garden birds.  It is not a slide lecture, and there are no live birds on display, but it is a fun-packed hour or so of songs, puppets, competitions, pictures and unusual facts about British garden birds.  Everyone will learn how to attract birds, feed them and watch them!  The show will take place at Tenterden Folk Festival on Saturday 4th October.  Admission is by Full Weekend Ticket or £2.00 per child on the door.  Full details will be included in the free souvenir programme which will be available shortly.

Derek Gifford’s workshop “Birds in Folk Song” will take place on Sunday at 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in The Evans Bar of the Tenterden Club and admission is by Full Weekend Ticket or £2.00 on the door.
