This year’s festival will present a wide range of concerts, workshops and informal events. From country dances to courtly capers, from Celtic fiddling to violin virtuosi and lilting Gaelic ballads to theatrical songs, the cultural gap is far from wide.

Workshop on traditional and folk song with Shirley Collins,  President EFDSS (nominated)

FRIDAY OCTOBER 17, 8 pm
'A Most Sunshiny Day' with Shirley Collins
An illustrated talk on Sussex traditional folk songs and singers, which also tells
of the influence of folk music on English classical music

SATURDAY OCTOBER 18, 8 pm
The BREMF Ceilidh with Rattlebone, St Mary's Catholic Church Hall, Surrenden Rd, Brighton BN1 6PA

SUNDAY OCTOBER 19, 11 am - 5 pm
Workshop on traditional dance music 1714 - 1837
with The Carnival Band and Mary Collins (dancer)
A fun family day, open to players of old and modern instruments and dancers
of all levels. All players will have a chance to dance as well!

FRIDAY OCTOBER 24, 8 PM
Meet the Neighbours in our opening gala concert: a medley of toe-tapping dances and haunting songs combining some of the leading classical and traditional players and singers from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England: Róisín Elsafty, Siobhán Armstrong, Cass Meurig, Gwenan Gibbard, Clare Norburn, Joy Smith and Hilary Michael.

Wandering Fiddlers
