Balkan Music Summer School in Kayakoy/Turkey
26th July – 2nd August 2008
In this workshop week, participants will learn Gypsy and folk tunes from Eastern Europe and the Balkan countries, explore their phrasing, interpretation, rhythms and ornamentation. Most of the teaching will be by ear, but sheet music is available. Part of this week will consist of workshops in ensemble playing. This will includes arrangement, harmonising, solos and performance. However, the main aim of the week will be to experience the enormous joy that Gypsies have whilst playing music! There will also be informal jam sessions and a final concert taking place. Suitable for intermediate and advanced players of any instrument, singers and percussionists...
All this in very picturesque paradise, with the possibility every lunch break to go to the beach or walk in the hills on historical paths... great Turkish food, sunshine, but the area is not too hot!!!.
If you haven't planned your holiday yet, maybe that will be it. It is part of a long summer full of different workshops, please check the net for details.
Price including accommodation and half board (breakfast& dinner) is £375, this does not include the flight.
I'm very happy to help with booking flights. For all people coming from abroad, not speaking Turkish, we will pick you up from the Dalaman airport.
