English Folk Dance and Song Society hosts English Ceilidh as part of capital's Big Dance
Saturday Evening Ceilidh featuring Liam Robinson with Stömp
Saturday July 5th
8 - 11pm
Dance is taking over the capital this summer with Big Dance - a week-long city wide celebration of dance in all its forms that runs from Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 July 2008.
Big Dance is a Greater London Authority initiative organised in partnership with Arts Council England, which aims to promote dance as a social and physical activity, as well as an art form and showcase London as a world city of dance.
Londoners and visitors of all ages will be able to watch or take part in a wide range of dance, at established and more unusual venues reflecting London's different communities. Over 100 events will be taking place throughout the capital including in Camden Town at the home of the English Folk Dance and Song Society - Cecil Sharp House.
The occasion will feature easy, energetic fun dances to the high-octane 5-piece English ceilidh band Stömp. Caller Liam Robinson will explain the dances as you go. The event will be suitable for all ages and levels of experience with no need to bring a partner.
