YOUTH PROGRAMME

CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL

Towersey Teaches Tango

Well actually not Tango but you can learn Fandango!  This year’s programme is packed full with more workshops than ever before.  Dance workshops include Breton, Scandinavian, Contra, French Bourrees, Austrian, Fandango, Irish Step, Molly, Longsword, Rapper, Border Morris, North West Morris and Appalachian.  For those of you keen to flex your vocal chords we have Harmony Singing, Global Vocals and you can even learn how to Sing Like a Bloke!  The Festival also offers music workshops ranging from Afro Brazilian Dance, Austrian and Hungarian music to American Traditional music and English Song as well as Concertina classes and the ever-popular Slow and Steady music sessions.

When you’ve sung your heart out and danced your little socks off you can stretch out your limbs at Yoga or perhaps turn your hand to Lantern-making.  Towersey Showground favourites Mushy Pea also return with their circus skills workshops where you can try out juggling, diablo, hula hoops and plenty more besides.
Something For The Young Ones
Towersey Children’s Festival has three dedicated marquees on the Festival site and is renowned for being one of the best on the scene.  The programme is once again bursting at the seams with great activities, including Taiko drumming, song workshops, storytelling, craft workshops, parachute games, circus skills, dance classes, Mini Melodeons and a ceilidh workshop with Whapweasel.  There will also be a magical family puppet show called Head in the Clouds, the Grand Family Ceilidh and a chance to experience the hugely popular Family Bat Walk.

The final touches are still being added to the 2008 programme and you can keep a look out for all the latest news and updates on the Towersey website. Simply click here.

BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Winners Hit The Village

We are delighted to confirm that the winners of last year’s BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, Jeana Leslie & Siobhan Miller will be appearing at this year’s Festival.  The talented duo will take to Towersey’s Concert Stage on Sunday evening.  These Scottish girls delighted the judges at last year's Young Folk Award Final, so make sure you come along to hear what it was that they thought was so special.

If you are a young musician between 15 and 20 years old and fancy the opportunity to become one of the folk stars of the future then now is the time to enter this year’s BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.  You can find all the details about the competition and download an entry form at www.bbc.co.uk/folk .  Alternatively you can email info_at_mrscasey_dot_co_dot_uk or call 01629 827012.
