performances and a voice that has been likened to Nick Drake, Phil King is building a name for
himself with his blend of jazz, folk, soul and blues. He released his debut
album Leaves in late 2006, to
fantastic reviews from both regional and national press, and having performed
all over the
He has performed at festivals
including Glastonbury Fest, Cheltenham Jazz Fest and Bath Fringe, and has
supported many touring artists, such as Amp Fiddler and Kate Walsh. His music
has also been played on many local radio stations, as well as on BBC Radio 2.
In addition to his solo work,
he also plays regularly with The Forster King Band, which he founded with
guitarist James Forster in 2004. They released Keep The Music Playing in 2006,
featuring original songs alongside covers by the likes of BB King. He also
performs with Backyard, an R ’n’ B Soul band which he formed in 2005, and they
released These Are The Ways in 2007.
