NEWS:JUAN MARTIN THE MASTER OF FLAMENCO MUSIC RETURNS TO ASHFORD, SHIVA NOVA

Description:

Juan Martin, the world-renowned master of the flamenco guitar, makes a welcome return to Ashford on Saturday 24th May at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s Church. The programme will be accompanied by a dancer and singer for a real Spanish flavour. This will be as part of the Equator World Music Series which celebrates world music, dance and theatre.

A native of Andulucia, Juan Martin is a celebrated virtuoso of the flamenco guitar and is considered one of the best guitarists in the world. He has played with artists of the calibre of Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock and has performed at major international arts festivals including Edinburgh, and Montreux Jazz and at leading halls worldwide.  Juan’s alchemy of the traditional and modern and his seductive, fiery and passionate performances guarantee an evening of passion, excitement and electricity!

Cutting-edge world music company ShivaNova will be bringing further world-class musicians, dancers and storytellers to Ashford as a part of the Equator World Music Series this spring and beyond. Still to come is Silk Quartet on Saturday 7th June, the all-female group with their mix of traditional and contemporary Chinese music and Shivanova on Saturday 28th June, bringing a spectacular performance of contemporary Indian music partnered with brilliant dancers and drummers.

It is recommended to book in advance for the remaining shows to avoid disappointment.
