Friday 29th  February   Róisín White    
                                                                with The Rakes

One of the foremost song carriers of the Ulster tradition, Roisin has a wonderful rough velvet voice and a jaunty style all her own. We are delighted to welcome her back .

Róisín White has become one of the foremost song carriers of the Ulster tradition. Born in County Down, she acquired her interest listening to her mother sing around the house. She studied Irish Gaelic and absorbed traditional singing at one of the Aran Islands from a small community where singing was very common and natural. She has learned songs directly from countless source and revival singers, including Len Graham, Eddie Butcher, Paddy & Bridget Tunney, and Robert Cinnamond.
      Róisín has absorbed the traditional culture and made her own robust and jaunty singing style. Retired from teaching Irish for a living she now teaches singing at various singing weekends and week-long schools, and performs at festivals in several countries. She has recorded  "The First Of My Rambles" and will shortly be bringing out her second CD.     Says Brian Peters: "she sings with warm,earthy honesty and bags of rhythm and swagger."

An outstanding singer, guitarist, melodeon & anglo-concertina player of
energy and passion. Brian believes strongly in the power and relevance of
the old songs and ballads  but he’s no diehard and covers the works of
writers from Leon Rosselson to Lyle Lovett as well as contributing witty
and hard hitting songs of his own.

Friday 4th April                  Elizabeth Stewart with Alison McMorland
A unique opportunity to hear two of Scotland’s most renowned ballad singers.
Elizabeth Stewart learnt her art from her Traveller family, the Fetterangus
Stewarts, especially her aunt, Lucy Stewart. She also plays Scottish dance
music on the piano.
 Alison McMorland, producer of Elizabeth’s CD “Binnorrieâ€ð, has long been
admired for her beautiful voice and her insight into the ballads.
 â€œ..unites scrupulous traditional fidelity with versatile and creative artistry.â€ð

Peta Webb and Ken Hall branch out from the traditional Irish songs for which they’re renowned, to sing American country music and brother duets  including gems from The Stanley Brothers,  Doc Watson and Hank Williams.
Bluesman Simon Hindley supplies virtuoso guitar backing plus harmony vocals as well as contributing his own fine blues performances on guitar, voice and harmonica.
