Subject: FitB - March Musicals & Martin Simpson!

A very Happy Mothers Day if you are one! and Happy everyone else day if you?re not!
Hope you?re all well and less stressed than me! - Yes the builders are still here! I have now managed to train them to bring me tea and biscuits so its not all bad, they even bought me flowers to cheer me up when all the chaos was getting too much, and mended my dishwasher. In fact if anyone needs lovely builders I would be happy to recommend them.
Phil*Reg*Tom news!
Only 28 tickets left for this concert on 16th May, so if you haven?t reserved yours yet ? don?t dilly dally. Full details on the website. www.folkinthebarn.co.uk
Another FiTB concert!

Don?t I promise you the best folk / acoustic performers in the Country? Well if awards indicate excellence (not always, but in this case they do...) then you can look forward to seeing two of the countries? most excellent musicians. Recent winner of BBC Radio 2 Folk awards ? Musician of the Year ? Andy Cutting - and if that isn?t enough he is sharing the stage with the stupendously excellent Martin Simpson. Martin of course has won more awards than there?s room to list but he is the recent winner of aforementioned Radio 2 Folk awards ? Best Album and Best song. It is Martins second visit to Folk in the Barn, the last occasion was simply spellbinding. They will be appearing at the Canterbury Cathedral International Study Centre venue on Sunday June 15th. I can only have Sundays at the ISC now, but I think it?s quite nice to have something to look forward to at the end of the weekend once all the gardening is done :o) and they don?t finish too late. Tickets for this concert are available now and are reasonably priced at £14 and £12 - still excellent value for entertainment of this calibre. I must also point out that Martin Simpson will be doing a solo performance at Faversham folk club on the 2nd of July www.faver

Tell them I sent you! The evening will end with a stunning firework display and there?s entertainment for children earlier on. For more info see their website www.ct3events.com/
Something completely different...

I love all sorts of music not just folk n roots. Don?t tell anyone but I also love a good West End musical though don?t go very often as it?s so expensive. I?ve recently discovered that the Yamaha Music school in Canterbury run very reasonably priced trips to all the favourites. They have a few spare tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Monday 10th March at only £27 for a good seat and return coach transport from Canterbury. A bargain I think you?ll agree. If you?d like more info on this or other trips they are running (Les Miserables, Lord of the Rings) please email james_at_ymscanterbury_dot_co_dot_uk and ask to be put on the emailing list for Theatre trip info.
Broadstairs Folk Week have a new website www.broadstairsfolkweek.org.uk/ where you can find details of the festival and other events they are promoting including a concert with Whippersnapper in June at the Gulbenkian Theatre.
Thats enough for now, back to the ironing ? so much for Mothers Day!
