Farewell Concert THIS SATURDAY
Here are details of our 'fund raising'
concert in Battle this Saturday, the 16th of Feb. Fabulous line up
(see
attachments)
(sorry all attachments removed.
1d)
and very very cheap. I do hope we make a something for the
festival as it is the 20th Black Horse - biggest little festival in Britain
this year and we need every penny. At this concert there will be a bar, a
raffle and we will be collecting for St. Michaels Hospice. Eddy Dunford who
was like myself involved from the start died there recently after a short
fight against cancer.
The concert is the first after a ban
on live music at the pleasant intimate Memorial hall Theatre in the centre of
Battle High street, just a few minutes from the B.R. Station. There is a huge
car park in Mount Street, Battle and some on road parking too.
The doors ( and the bar) open at 7.30pm and the concert
starts at 8.00pm with
Becky and
Zella two young girls ( vocals, guitar and fiddle)
who performed at the festival last year in Barrier Dutch a young indie
band.
Legend Claire
Hammill will perform an acoustic solo set with songs from
her new double album "The minor fall and the major lift". It includes tracks
and rerecorded tracks from nine of her previous albums. She was the voice of
Wishbone Ash, has a distinguished career as a singer songwriter, she wrote You
Take my Breath Away that Eva Cassidy recently too back to the charts and
during her "new age" episode had No 1 hits including the much sort after
"Voices".
Waking The
Witch are one of the most popular acts to close our folk
session. So popular and so good we invited them back to do it for us again.
However they are to go their separate ways and this is the last chance we will
have to enjoy their voices, songs harmonies and
musicianship.
We will be announcing the line up of this year's festival
on Saturday.
Everybody will be made welcome.
Meet the performers on the night and The Black Horse
Festival committee.
I have attached a poster for people
to print and display (PLEASE).
