K-City Music Tuesdays

Hail Bop

Tuesday 29 January 8pm

Gulbenkian Café Bar Canterbury

The first K- City of the New Year features Soprano sax player Ivan Thompson and bassist Martin Elliot, who team up for K-City’s first foray into Jazz Fusion. With material from Steps Ahead, Tom Scott, Marcus Millar and others we’re looking at an evening of tight rhythms and virtuoso performances.

Martin Elliot’s credentials stretch from his regular spot with The Michael Nyman Orchestra right through to tours with the likes of The Nolans, Petula Clarke and Gary Numan.

Ivan Thomson has caused eye-brows to be raised via his brilliant performances with retro-swingers Hullabaloo. But what sets Ivan apart as a unique player is not just his versatility and range but an over-riding passion for his music.

On the last Tuesday of every month, K-City introduces their own brand of live music events in the Gulbenkian Café Bar. With an emphasis on original bands and performers, Music Tuesdays aims to elevate Tuesdays beyond ‘the dullest day of the week’ and present an interesting mix of rising stars and seasoned veterans.
