Subject: Greetings from Kentgigs
Kent & E Sussex Gig
Guide
Merry Christmas
from Chris, Sandi and all at kentgigs.com
We wish that you all have a great Christmas
holiday with the family this year and that you come back refreshed and continue
to help us keep the music scene in Kent alive .
We have had a good 25th year, with more quality
venues joining us, but not generally bringing more work for the bands. It has
been.. Er... different.
Our record company Red Admiral Records has
created some great albums by Kent and International artists who have been making
an impact on the web as well.
Chris joined the Board at Digimix Records Ltd
as MD. The company specialises in worldwide digital distribution of music
through their international licensees and associated download
sites.
Kent Musicians Web has now served over 3000 of
musicians looking for a band, music teacher and those looking to add more
musicians to their act.
Music publishing has also seen an upturn with more of our writers,
local and worldwide gaining exposure through record releases, international
download sales through our digital distribution services and the expansion
of our production library products for TV, Radio, Film and Advertising.
Our history of Kent Bands at
Kent MusicBiz has suffered a little due to us being so busy but we will catch up
eventually. Sorry.
2008 is going to be a real challenge with many
small pubs and venues hit by the no smoking ban. Attitudes really need to
change if this is not to be the worst we have seen the live scene in 25 years.
Previous live audiences are now sitting smoking Belgian tobacco in the warm at
home with the car in the garage, French wine and beer and music supplied by
MTV.
We predict nothing this year, the
future a mystery. Most of the people we work with felt the
ban immediately as audiences started to decrease, others will surely
come to terms with the reality of its effect on live music the second that 2008
arrives, the festivities are over and it is too cold to huddle in doorways or
under flimsy canvas.
The good news is that non-smokers musicians and
venue staff will be able to enjoy the occasional band and the eating
experience we have been told will happen, in the clean air. Or maybe we are looking at a new outdoor society with braziers
(Ah! Wood smoke and Chestnuts over an open fire)
See you there.
The best for 2008 from all at Kentgigs.com

We hope to have it all in place for next year.
